As you may have figured out by now, Fashion Reverie loves CBD products as they are so helpful with Seasonal Affective Disorder and other ailments. But did you know CBD products can be fantastic for your skin? There are plenty of scientific studies demonstrating that CBD has some amazing anti-inflammatory, as well as anti-aging, qualities that can be beneficial in beauty products.

Be aware that CBD products cannot get you high unless they contain THC. Products applied to the skin will only show up in trace amounts in your blood stream, and topical products are unlikely to have any impact on your mood. Check your local laws even when products aren’t intended for consumption, some age restrictions may still apply.

Be sure to discuss any CBD products you are using with your doctor, especially if you pregnant or nursing.

Beekman 1802 Milk Drops & CBD Facial Oil

For years the cosmetic industry has told women oil is the enemy! Scrub, scrub, scrub the oil away. But now we know not only is oil not the enemy, but some oils are extremely beneficial to skin and even treat acne. Beekman 1802 has been featured on Fashion Reverie before, but they have recently created a new product combining goats’ milk (a natural exfoliant) with 1000 mg of CBD into a nourishing dry facial oil, ideal for stressed, inflamed or sensitive skin.

Daily FurZen – CBD products for pets

CBD oil for pets? Yes, indeed. Fashion Reverie checked with a few veterinarians who said while there is no conclusive evidence that CBD oil helps pets, there is no evidence that it harms them.  Meanwhile, many pet owners say it helps with anxiety, inflammation, and joint problems for their fur babies. If you choose to use Zen Pet Hemp Oil from Daily Fur, do not do so without checking with your vet first. Start with a half dose and closely observe your pet to see how it reacts. Take 10% off your first order when you sign up for the email list.

Hempz Thirsty Facial SPF 30 CBD Lotion from Ulta

In 1997, director Baz Luhrmann wrote an essay he used for a graduation speech. It was remixed into a spoken word dance single that amazingly was a top ten hit. It began and ended with the same advice, “Always use sunscreen.”

He was right. Not only is it a critical daily step to avoid aging sun rays, it can reduces your chance of developing skin cancer. Hempz Thirsty Facial lotion not only delivers great SPF protection, but the CBD oil can help with acne, inflammation, and dry skin.

Club Quarantine, The Hottest Summer 2020 Party

As the globe adjusts to a new reality, the summer music festival season is officially canceled. In its place, the world has been invited to the biggest party on the planet, virtually. The COVID-19 pandemic has given birth to a new type of party, born on social media. “A new temporary way to bond with fans until a return to normal,” says Billboard Magazine. Who knew the power of music and dance could bring people together in times of need? It brings hope as an expressive relief to change the world. With venues and bars shut down from coast to coast, Fashion Reverie helps you jam out to all the hottest live streams and virtual parties during the coronavirus crisis. Without a cover charge, dress code, or drink minimum, feel free to tune in to the ultimate social-distancing dance party.

“I’m excited to see what artists will do following this pandemic,” stated Khyran Shank, a Los Angeles-based artist. It’s safe to say this current pandemic is pushing for not only change in society, but pushing our creativity as well. Integration is nothing new to the fashion world, constantly blurring lines with industry crossovers and brand collaborations. As fashion presentations have started to take place on digital platforms, we recall past fashion shows that utilized influencers, social media, and celebrity guest appearances to their advantage for promoting their seasonal collections. One might ask, how can the fashion industry continue to push the status quo while paving the way for new beginnings during trying times?

Increasing popularity by breaking the internet, social media platforms give brands access to millions of active users worldwide. Finding creative ways to engage their fan base, fashion brands are prioritizing engagement over sales as an extension of their brand personality and voice. In a branded opportunity for retailers, fashion houses are partnering with music streaming services as a way to remind listeners of in-store experiences. Companies, such as H&M, Forever 21, and Starbucks are shifting social media strategies, using musical platforms to offer more of a lifestyle approach to their marketing.

As one of the favorite music streaming platforms and social networks, Spotify is slowly becoming the music hub for fashion accounts. “People don’t just listen to Spotify, they live it,” says Spotify. As brands have become more receptive to the growing influence of social media, technology, and digital apps, the fashion industry has become hyper-connected with new audiences. Dominated by millennial consumers, Spotify speaks to a magnitude of the fashion-conscious target audience. In collaboration with brands such as H&M, Pull&Bear, and Victoria Secret, companies identify Spotify as a promotional tool for a content strategy to reach and engage with their community.

Other platforms have gotten in on the action as well. Making stay-at-home a little more bearable, Mashable notes “Instagram has announced a series of features. Co-watching allows users to view Instagram posts together with their friends over video chat. Yes, a watch party for Instagram posts.” Whether you’re working from home, seeking daily motivation, or taking a mental break, many creatives such as designer Timo Weiland, Louis Vuitton menswear artistic director Virgil Abloh, entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman, and even Ellen DeGeneres are hosting weekly breakout sessions on Instagram Live. Stuck indoors, live-streaming digital parties promotes social distancing while eliminating the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus and endangering anyone’s health. Described by Refinery 29 as “the creative genius responsible for the international experience that is Club Quarantine,” DJ D-Nice told The New York Times,“Musically we found a way to use tech to unite people, that’s a beautiful thing.”

Be sure to head to The Roots’ YouTube channel on Saturday, June 27 for The Roots Picnic 2020. In its 13th year, the concert is partnering with Michelle Obama to urge voters to use their voices at the ballots this year. Performers include The Roots, H.E.R., Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, G Herbo and many others. The event will also feature appearances by the former first lady, Janelle Monae, Kerry Washington, Tom Hanks, and more. The Picnic will be streamed here.

Also, tune in on July 4th, as PBS will livestream “A Capitol Fourth” at 8 p.m EST, hosted by John Stamos and Vanessa Williams, and featuring performances by Patti LaBelle, John Fogerty, Renée Fleming, The Temptations, Yolanda Adams, and more.

Editors’ Pick: Gucci’s Off The Grid Collection Featuring Jane Fonda

In case you were not aware, Film Icon Jane Fonda’s life has had many acts. The depth of her expansive life and career was chronicled in the 2018 documentary “Jane Fonda in Five Acts.”

Always an activist involved in several cases from the delegitimization of the Vietnam War, social injustice, feminist cases, the Iraqi Wars, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and more the Poor People’s Campaign, and environmentalist causes. And though Jane is an esteemed actress, winning two Academy Awards, seven Golden Globe awards, a Primetime Emmy, and an AFI Lifetime Achievement award, these accolades have not kept away from being intimately involved in causes that are near and dear to her.

After sixty plus years in the film industry, Jane Fonda has not slowed. In fact, she has a new gig, or you could say another act.

You will find this octogenarian in Gucci’s new environmentally friendly collection, Off The Grid. Designed for those mindful of their environmental impact, Gucci Off The Grid uses recycled, organic, bio-based and sustainably sourced materials, including ECONYL, a regenerated nylon made from nylon offcuts and pre- and post-consumer waste. Fonda is featured in the campaign video Lil Nas X, King Princess, Miyavi and David de Rothschild.

“The collection is the result of teamwork; everybody brought something to it. And in the campaign, too, there is this idea of dialogue among people building something new. I imagined that we could build a treehouse in a city [center], all together, like kids playing in the park. Because all of us need to build this house or to find out that our planet exists, even where it seems it’s not there, or it’s far away,” explains Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.

Images courtesy of lesfacons.com

The Off The Grid collection contains genderless luggage, ready-to-wear garments, accessories and footwear. Along with the video, Alessandro Michele employed Harmony Korine to shoot urban dwellers living in a rustic treehouse. The treehouse and the simple way of life it represents becomes a metaphor for the desire to escape conventional life and enjoy the experience of living more off the grid.

Fashion Reverie’s Unique Summer 2020 Skincare and Wellness Guide

It is understatement to say that 2020 has been a very tumultuous year!! And we are only halfway through. With global protests aimed at police brutality and racial inequality and the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to upend global financial markets and institutions, it is a wonder that most of us aren’t screaming, “enough is enough.”

Well, most of us are not desperately screaming for relief. Most of us are hoping for the best, anticipating a COVID-19 vaccine soon, and cautiously expecting the protests to render a more just society.

Still, all the unrest and disruption can be hard on your skin and with summer just around the corner, no one wants dull, listless skin or skin that looks like a battleground. Fashion Reverie has curated some unique and innovative skincare and beauty products that will maintain and protect your skin against the brutality of the summer sun—that’s right, keep protesting—as well as give you that extra summer glow that we all love!!

Image courtesy of For The Biome

If you are in the market for a skincare brand that acknowledges that your skin is a unique universe with its own communication system that sends signals throughout the body about personal health and emotions, then For The BIOME skincare is for you!!

Biome awakens the trillion microbes that cloak you skin and uplift your skin communication systems. Founders Paul and Barbi Schulick believe that a holistic approach to skincare renders better results. Paul and Barbi believe that the skin is your third brain and like any thinking organism your skin needs the correct nutrition.

The Biome team has identified nature’s most efficacious ingredients and obsessively sourcing their purest form, we pay homage to this intensive process with our technologies: Artisanal Fermentation™ and volcanic CO2 extraction. It is with these preparation methods that we see the clinically studied benefits of each ingredient come to life. The ancient practice of Artisanal Fermentation™ further elevates already exquisite formulas, enriching them with increased antioxidant content, prebiotic nutrients, and postbiotic actives including skin-strengthening short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), peptides, and probiotic lysates. If your skin’s microbiome is a garden, prebiotics act as a fertilizer that nurtures a healthy balance of bacteria while postbiotics may increase the absorption and efficacy of those nutrients, stabilize them, and lavish the skin with complex actives not found in isolated formulas.

This summer promises to one of the hottest on record. And whether you are out and about enjoying the warm weather or out doing your part to protest social injustice, the sun and the elements can do a real number on your skin.

PopMasks are the brainchild of British jetsetter and beauty maven Louisa Booth, who tired (literally) of trying to sleep on international flights and hated looking less than fresh upon landing.  So, she invented something she calls “calm in a pouch”—a self-warming eye mask that refreshes and relaxes at once.  Its warmth increases circulation, plumping skin around the eyes for a more rested appearance, while also encouraging the mind to quiet itself, let go of tensions and maybe even drift off to sleep.

PopMasks are made of non-woven cotton and contain heat cells with naturally occurring ingredients (iron powder, vermiculite, activated carbon, salt and water) that activate when the mask is removed from its pouch and exposed to oxygen. The warming effect lasts more than 20 minutes.  It’s vegan, cruelty-free, biodegradable and all packaging is recyclable.

PopMasks come in Starry Eyes (fragrance-free), Jetsetter (infused with jasmine oil), and coming soon Sleepover (rose-infused.) They are available as singles for $5 each or in value packs of 5 for $20 at CVS stores nationwide.  They’re no muss, no fuss, and perfect on-the-go or at home.

This addition to our summer skincare and beauty roundup is a little unusual; however, Fashion Reverie uniquely understands that beauty goes beyond what is on the outside, what’s going on inside of us also contributes to our beauty. The summer is not only the perfect time to concentrate on looking fit and trim, it is also important to consider beautifying our environment, and that includes our refrigerator smelling good. Get rid of those bad smells in your fridge with Moso Bags.

Moso Bags are a very simple and effective solution for a smelly refrigerator, providing odorless and chemical-free results within hours of placement! These bags might be small, but they are mighty: all-natural bamboo charcoal contains millions of tiny pores that can attract and absorb odors, bacteria, chemicals and moisture from the fridge like a magnetic sponge (including spoiled produce or foods with strong scents like fish). They also keep your produce fresh by absorbing ethylene gas, a naturally occurring gas from fruits and vegetables that causes them to ripen quickly. Moso Bags are also reusable for up to 2 years, ensuring the fridge is fresh year-round.

All bags are fragrance-free, natural and non-toxic. For space saving convenience, a suction cup is also included to hang the bag out of the way of groceries.

Have you ever heard the expression that the eyes are the windows to your soul? That may be true, and if it is true who wants a cloudy and fettered soul because of all the stress and discomfort everyone is experiencing. HydroPeptide to the rescue!!

HydroPeptide’s All Eye Need eye care kit is a 3-piece kit that targets fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness around the eye area. The new Vital Eyes Instant Awakening Serum will firm and immediately hydrate the eye area with a gentle retinol alternative called bakuchiol. Follow up with the best-selling Eye Authority Eye Cream, which will deeply moisturize while crushed pearl powder will add an instant glow and reduce the look of dark circles.

Last, but not least, it is so important to protect your lips from the ultraviolent rays of the sun. Who wants a scaly pucker this summer? No one!! Merle Norman’s lip conditioner helps protect against environmental factors with SPF 15 and antioxidant-rich, pomegranate extract keeps lips feeling great. Editors’ Pick: UNIQLO’s Kurta Spring 2020 Collection

Is UNIQLO one of the premier fashion brands for collaborations? Well, they may be. In 2020 alone, UNIQLO has collaborated with MARIMEKKO, Ines de la Fressange, Hana Tajima, and JW Anderson. And 2020 is not yet over!!

Add to this 2020 bucket list of collaborations UNIQLO’s collaboration with renowned New Delhi-based designer, Rina Singh. In this second collaboration with Singh, UNIQLO celebrates the everyday dress of the modern Indian women. The new collaboration with UNIQLO has been dubbed Kurta, drawing on an Indian style of dress that is made to dress up or down while keeping you cool during the summer months. This collection infuses modern simplicity with a traditional Indian aesthetic.

Based on Singh’s richly colored hand-painted botanical motif, the collection is a tribute to pre-eminent Hungarian-Indian painter, Amrita Sher-Gil., one of the greatest avant-garde artists of the 20th century and a pioneer of modern Indian art. It embodies the LifeWear concept of simple and high-quality clothing that makes life better for all.

UNIQLO’s Lifewear concept is based on clothing designed to make everyone’s life better. It is simple, every day, high-quality clothing with a practical sense of beauty—ingenious in detail, thought through with life’s needs in mind, every evolving.

With that concept in mind, the UNIQLO spring 2020 Kurta collection seems apropos for the times we are living in. A stressful time that is has global financial instability and a global health crisis not experienced in over a hundred years.

In this time of instability and new normal, as those who can work from home investigate clothing that is comfortable, fashion, and easy to maintain, this new collaboration from UNIQLO fits in quite nicely into what many female consumers need and will embrace. The collection comes in a full range of women’s sizing, priced from $14.90 to $59.90 and will launch on uniqlo.com from Thursday, June 4th and in stores to follow.

Make the Most Out of Self-Isolation with DIY Beauty Tips

Lindsay Myers

Los Angeles-based, tv personality, Lindsay Myers is all about balancing budget with luxury. “People assume that you need a ton of money to experience everything life has to offer. I have made it my mission to prove them wrong,” explains Myers. Gaining popularity as an “Access Hollywood” regular, as well as working alongside celebrity stylist Brad Goreski on Bravo’s “Brad, Brad World,” while also starring on a solo travel series on katespade.com, Myers knows a thing or two about how to stretch a buck without giving up a thing.

However, with the COVID-19 virus hitting the US hard, many of our regular activities have been halted, leaving us stuck at home. So, it’s no surprise that Myer’s is balancing this “new normal” with some at-home pampering!

Fashion Reverie loves a good DIY scrub or mask and who better to spill some beauty secrets than Myers herself. Keep reading for Myers’ top treatments for smooth skin, soft hair, and beautiful nails (and the best part, she uses products you most likely already have at home!).

Natural Lip Scrub for a Kissable Pout

If in a time crunch, Myers recommends grabbing a pack of sugar for a quick exfoliation. However, this recipe is her favorite trick for “super smooth” lips.

What you’ll need:

1 TSP of Brown Sugar
1 TSP of White Sugar
1 TSP of Honey
1/2 TSP of Olive Oil

Mix all the ingredients in a small container and apply to your lips, store the extra for later use. Myers swears by this method exclaiming, “Trust me, after about 20 seconds your lips will feel amazing.”

With COVID-19 virus uncertainty, we’re all looking for a way to de-stress and unwind. You could run out and buy bath salts, but it’s so simple to make them at home. Myers adds essential oils to hers for an ultra-relaxing experience, but if you don’t have any on hand, you can skip them.

What you’ll need:

Coarse Salt

Epsom Salt

Baking Soda

Essential oil

Take 6-part coarse sea salt, 3-part Epsom salt, 1-part baking soda, and just a few drops of essential oil of your choice and mix them together. How easy is that? Myers especially loves this recipe as, “this combo helps sooth the muscles, helps with skin irritation, and softens the skin.”

3-Step Ombre at-Home Manicure

With Myers’ regular nail salon shut down, she finally found a little time to play with the at-home-manicure. “I never go really big or bold with my manicures. But I have the time to figure out how to do it myself, why not!”

This ombre nail looks great and is so easy you may find yourself doing your own nails at home even after all the nail salons open again!

 What you’ll need:

2 Different nail polish colors (preferably one light shade and one darker shade)

1 Clear topcoat nail polish

1 Sponge (you just need a little bit so you can cut off a section from a larger sponge if needed)

1 Sheet of plastic wrap

1 Toothpick

Paint your nails as usual with the lightest color and let them dry fully. Next pour a little of each shade on a piece of plastic wrap side-by-side, so the two colors touch. Then, “take the toothpick and swirl/blend just at the area where the two colors meet,” Myers explains.

The next step is to “take your sponge and dab it directly over this mixture and then dab the sponge directly on your nail.” Once you’ve applied this technique to all your fingernails, Myers shares that if you want a stronger color, you can go back over the nails once the first coat is completely dry. Finish the look with a swipe of the topcoat polish and marvel at your handiwork.

Transformative Hair Mask

“It is SO easy to make a simple hair mask with everyday things in our kitchen. Why don’t we do it more? Maybe now we will,” shares Myers who doesn’t just have one great hair mask, but two!

Option 1, ideal for all hair types:

What you’ll need:

1 Avocado

1 TBSP of Honey

To create this mask, scoop out half an avocado and mix it with the honey. Apply this mixture to your strands and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then rinse it off for smooth, soft locks.

Option 2, ideal for extremely dry hair:

What you’ll need:

2 Eggs

3 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Mix 2 eggs with 3 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil and apply to hair. Leave this on for 20 minutes and rinse it off for healthier looking hair.

Easy at Home Facial

Myers is an avid spa goer looking for better skin. “I have grown to love my facials, but they are expensive and right now we just can’t get them. Why not learn how to do it yourself?” Now is the perfect time to pamper yourself and your skin.

What you’ll need:

2 Teabags of Chamomile Tea

1 TBSP of Honey

1 TBSP of Nutritional Yeast

Brew one cup of the tea with both tea bags and let it cool. While the tea is cooling, stir together the honey and nutritional yeast in a small bowl.

Myers explains to slowly add the tea into honey and yeast mixture. “Add just enough of the tea to the bowl to make a paste. You want to be able to spread it on your face, but not be watery.” Leave the mixture on your face for 20 minutes and take this time to clear your mind and relax. Wash off the mixture smooth to reveal restored skin.

Even if you’re stuck inside, you can still spoil yourself with these budget friendly beauty treatments. Let us know if you’ve tried any of Myers’ DIY recipes or some of your own favorite beauty concoctions!

Editors’ Pick: Fendi’s Spring 2020 Peekaboo Bag Campaign

It’s been a decade and Fendi’s Peekaboo bag is just as popular as when the bag first debuted during Fendi’s spring 2009 show in Milan. Models Laura Stone and Anja Rubik flashed the classic black patent leather bags as they flaunted their well-honed signature runway walks.

“It is a timeless bag,” says creative director of accessories and menswear Silvia Venturini-Fendi who designed the bag with future generations in mind. “You buy a Peekaboo not only to wear now, but to wear in the future. One of your daughters will probably steal it from your closet!”

The Fendi peekaboo bag is a bag of two parts, divided by a rigid middle with a twist lock on both sides. The element of surprise is all down to its front flap which can be pushed down into a U-shape to reveal the strong central partition which acts a canvas to Fendi’s artisanal flourishes.

The peekaboo bag is made at Fendi’s ateliers by its esteemed staff of craftsman. These craftspeople join cuts of prestige materials, before fitting the leather case around its strong central core, itself fitted with a twist-lock which is matched with gold-finish or silvery-white Palladium hardware.

For the spring 2020 season Fendi presents its classic handbag in large and mini versions, with the leather ‘Interlace’ workmanship. The leather is cut and rolled into stripes that are hand-knotted to create a crochet-effect pattern with squared knots, giving life to the shell of the bag. The hand knotted shell is then folded on the opposite side showing the uniqueness of the backside of the workmanship and squared knots. The interlaced shell is then finalized with a maxi metal needle. Finally, the handle, the accessories and the inside pocket are sewn to the hand knotted shell.

Fendi places this spring 2020 campaign against the backdrop of bold floral prints, and a 1960s pastel color-blocked collage of color. True to form, the spring 2020 peekaboo bags fit very nicely into this explosion of color and joyous kaleidoscope of fun and frivolity.
