After ten years away from showing runway collections in America, Alon Livne returned to New York Bridal Fashion Week (NYBW), and it was more than just a comeback. Titled “Garlands,” the designer’s latest bridal collection brought couture-level details combined with opulent embellishments, reminding the American market what Livne is capable of.
The name “Garlands” aptly fits the collection, evoking decorative arrangements used for celebration and adornment. Livne looked to nautical and oceanic inspiration for his latest bridal collection, moving beyond the traditional mermaid silhouette. Details included seashell bras, pearls that appeared freshly procured rather than perfectly rounded, and paillettes reminiscent of fish scales.
Were Amphitrite, the Greek goddess and queen of the sea and consort of Poseidon, to walk amongst us mere mortals, she would have opted for this Alon Livne collection for her nuptials. Antique jewel details and luxe crystal embroidery gave a sense of high opulence to this collection, which also alluded to fantasy. While so many brides opt to look like Disney princesses on their wedding day, Livne asked what if a bride preferred to look like a regal sea nymph instead.
The jewelry pieces were created by Cassouto Jewels, a prominent jewelry brand known for its handmade bridal and jewelry accessories. Much of its jewelry is inspired by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods.

Alon Livne is often known for futuristic references combined with elements of fantasy in his collections. While this collection leaned more toward elements of ocean fantasy, there were some hints of futurism, like a bejeweled headpiece that looked like a futuristic helmet. “Garlands” is a collection for a bride who wants to go for a traditional white color scheme but go far beyond traditional bridal dress details. Jewels, ocean fantasy, and the year 3000 can all be in her wheelhouse with Alon Livne.
