Another one bites the dust!! And the one biting the dust this time appears to be Sean McGirr.

After a three-year tenure, McGirr has been given the boot from Alexander McQueen. Coming to Alexander McQueen after Sarah Burton exited after 13 years of helming the eponymous brand, McGirr was brought in to capture a more vibrant, younger audience, which he did. But, maybe not enough!!

Though McGirr was thanked for his contributions of capturing a younger audience, Kering CEO Luca de Meo spoke of “[establishing] a bold new direction for the house, building on its unique heritage of exceptional tailoring, uncompromising creativity and rebellion to reaffirm its position as one of the most innovative and culturally relevant voices in luxury.” Alexander McQueen is owned by the European luxury house Kering.

In a statement published in fashionnetwork.com, McGirr said, “[my] vision for Alexander McQueen was grounded in the interplay between raw, visceral, human beauty and the precision and rigour at the heart of the House. I am incredibly proud of the progressive energy we cultivated as a team, anchoring our creativity in contemporary culture, and seeing it resonate with the most forthright, expressive figures across art, music, cinema, and more. I leave with profound gratitude for the dedication of the studio and atelier, and craftspeople. I look forward to my next chapter and wish the House every success.”

Boss Kendall

Supermodel Kendall Jenner is moving up in the world of fashion. Moving up to being named Creative Director of Fwrd and a brand ambassador for Revolve Los Angeles. Jenner has worked with Revolve for over a decade and was first named creative director of Fwrd in 2011. However, in her expanded role Jenner will continue to oversee the retailer’s digital creative direction, including brand curation, monthly trend edits and major marketing initiatives.

“Kendall has been an important part of the Revolve family for many years, and her influence on Fwrd has helped shape the brand into one of the industry’s leading luxury fashion destinations,” said Raissa Gerona, president, brand & partnerships at Revolve Group. “As we continue to evolve both Fwrd and Revolve Los Angeles, expanding our partnership with Kendall felt like a natural next step. She has an unmatched ability to connect with consumers through fashion, and we’re excited to continue building on everything we’ve created together.”

Model Initiative

French luxury giants LVMH and Kering have committed to safeguarding working conditions for models. This decisive move forward is designed to combat gender-based and sexual violence and to protect younger individuals, introduces stricter rules that will officially come into force from the next Paris Fashion Week in 2027.

Through this initiative, LVMH reaffirms that the protection of models is not a one-off measure, but a commitment shared by all stakeholders in the sector: brands, agencies, casting directors and the models themselves. The group aims to help bring about lasting change in practices across the fashion industry,” said Antoine Arnault, head of image and environment at LVMH, as reported in a fashionnetwork.com article.

“In 2017, we set out to help transform the sector by jointly defining new requirements for the protection and wellbeing of models. Almost ten years on, it is our responsibility to go further,” added Marie-Claire Daveu, chief sustainability and institutional affairs officer at Kering.

“This strengthened charter reflects a simple conviction: the respect, safety and dignity of those who embody fashion are non-negotiable. By collectively raising our standards, we want to help foster lasting change in practices across the entire profession.”

The most relevant current change to the safeguard is raising the minimum age of models working during Paris Fashion Week from 16 years of age to 18 years of age. This initiative establishes a strict zero-tolerance principle towards all forms of gender-based and sexual harassment, abuse or violence.
