Is UNIQLO one of the premier fashion brands for collaborations? Well, they may be. In 2020 alone, UNIQLO has collaborated with MARIMEKKO, Ines de la Fressange, Hana Tajima, and JW Anderson. And 2020 is not yet over!!
Add to this 2020 bucket list of collaborations UNIQLO’s collaboration with renowned New Delhi-based designer, Rina Singh. In this second collaboration with Singh, UNIQLO celebrates the everyday dress of the modern Indian women. The new collaboration with UNIQLO has been dubbed Kurta, drawing on an Indian style of dress that is made to dress up or down while keeping you cool during the summer months. This collection infuses modern simplicity with a traditional Indian aesthetic.
Based on Singh’s richly colored hand-painted botanical motif, the collection is a tribute to pre-eminent Hungarian-Indian painter, Amrita Sher-Gil., one of the greatest avant-garde artists of the 20th century and a pioneer of modern Indian art. It embodies the LifeWear concept of simple and high-quality clothing that makes life better for all.
UNIQLO’s Lifewear concept is based on clothing designed to make everyone’s life better. It is simple, every day, high-quality clothing with a practical sense of beauty—ingenious in detail, thought through with life’s needs in mind, every evolving.
With that concept in mind, the UNIQLO spring 2020 Kurta collection seems apropos for the times we are living in. A stressful time that is has global financial instability and a global health crisis not experienced in over a hundred years.

In this time of instability and new normal, as those who can work from home investigate clothing that is comfortable, fashion, and easy to maintain, this new collaboration from UNIQLO fits in quite nicely into what many female consumers need and will embrace. The collection comes in a full range of women’s sizing, priced from $14.90 to $59.90 and will launch on uniqlo.com from Thursday, June 4th and in stores to follow.
