Is there life after America’s Next Model? Some of the former contestants might argue that their modeling career after ANTM is tepid at best, while others have gone on to live out their modeling aspirations.

For former judge Nigel Barker, life after ANTM is turning out to still be sweet. After the abrupt exit of Barker, Jay Alexander, and Jay Manual, blogging and industry tongues have wagged about the future of the ANTM triumvirate. The future of the two Jays remain in question, but  Nigel Barker has moved own to greener pastures as the host of the highly anticipated The Face, Oxygen’s new model reality series.

Barker will be joined by supermodels Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha, and Karolina Kurkova on The Face where aspiring female models compete to be the new face of a well-known brand.

In addition to being a judge on ANTM, Barker is a former model and as a photographer his work has appeared in GQ, Lucky, Tatler, Town & Country, Interview, Seventeen, and Cover magazines. Barker is also involved with the USO and is a celebrity ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Do Something organization, the United Nations Foundation and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

The Face is scheduled to air in 2013.

Fashion News Alert: Andrej Pejic’s Reality Show, Jason Wu Introduces ‘Miss Wu’, and Rihanna Designs UK Collection

It’s confirmed! Androgynous Serbian-Australian model Andrej Pejic will have his own reality show.

According to his agency, DNA Models, “It’s still in the early stages, but yes, there is a show being developed around Andrej.” The show will follow Pejic as he goes on go-sees and jobs over a few months.

It is rumored that Pejic’s mother, Jadranka Savic, will also be making an appearance in the show. Pejic is best known for currently being the only male model who successfully models both men and women’s garments in print and on the runway.

Jason Wu’s New Line for Nordstrom

In January, Nordstrom will exclusively sell Jason Wu’s new line “Miss Wu.”

“I always see Jason Wu [the collection] as my aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. It was really fun to explore that facet of who I am –slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude,” states Wu.

This 40-piece line will range from $195 to $795 compared to Wu’s other lines that have an average cost of $1,700. Designs will include A-line mini dresses, silk bow blouses, mod circle prints, and striped paired with feminine florals.

Although the exclusive deal is only set for one year with Nordstrom, it will sell  in other retail stores after the one-year deal with Nordstrom, with an accessories line in stores for 2014!

Rihanna designs UK Fashion Line

Rihanna is trying very hard to get us Yanks to shop in England.

After announcing her new reality show, Styled to Rock, which will only air in the UK, it has also been confirmed that she will be designing a clothing line for the UK.

Rihanna’s fashion line will be for British retail chain River Island.

“I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time…River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family-run business also really appealed to me,” details Rihanna about her capsule collection.

Launching in Spring 2013, we can only hope  that her line will hit  retail stores stateside or online.

Fashion News Alert: UGG Gets Edgy, Brian Reyes Returns, And Lady Gaga’s New Perfume

Why sacrifice fashion for comfort this fall when UGG’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection is sexy, warm, and comfortable. UGG takes shoe concepts to the next level for this fall season, revamping the classic boot and bootie.

“The inspiration behind pre-fall is all music and women who rock, like Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett, who were some of my idols growing up. So pre-fall is a reflection of rock of the 70’s while the core Fall collection is all about New York City,” said UGG creative director Leah Larson.

Included in fall 2012 is a continuing collection of edgy accessories from leather wallets and cross body bags to tech gadget covers. Look forward to fall 2013 as UGG plans to reveal a travel collection featuring overnight and weekend pieces.

Brian Reyes Designs at Calvin Klein

The ready-to-wear favorite, Brian Reyes, has signed on as vice president and head of global design at Calvin Klein Underwear after a one-year industry hiatus.

For his first collection for Calvin Klein Underwear, Reyes sought inspiration from exotic locales such as Patagonia.

“The underwear category is unique in that it is a fundamental basic but has so much possibility to be intriguing, sexy, and desirable,” Reyes told Women’s Wear Daily.

Lady Gaga to Launch Signature Perfume

Lady Gaga revealed that she will be releasing her own perfume, Lady Gaga Fame, in two different versions, an affordable small bottle ($30) and a larger version, Le Masterpiece, at $70.

The perfume has been described as the first-ever, black eau de parfum.Though black in color, the perfume sprays on the body clear and is invisible airborne. It also has an innovative “push pull technology” which allows the perfume’s sensory notes to work together, leaving no top or base notes.

Lady Gaga Fame consists of, “tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchid with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the [combination] essences of saffron and honey drops.”

The anticipated fragrance will hit Macy’s starting August 22, pre-orders start July 26.

Fashion News Alert: Jessica Simpson Designs Gowns, Alaia Opens Store, Target and Neiman Marcus Collaborate

Jessica Simpson is not designing for just toddlers, but also soon to be brides. Simpson is reported to be launching a bridal gown line to add to her nearly $1 billon fashion company. According to Simpson, she wants to design dresses for every bride, not just size 6s.

“If she does something that’s going to be memorable for decades, then certainly her wedding line is going to be successful because girls will want to mimic it!” states Fashion Star stylist Daniel Musto.

The 32-year-old is engaged to former NFL-er Eric Johnson and they are set to marry some time later this year.

Musto predicts that Simpson’s own wedding gown will give fashion insiders a look as to how Simpson might design her own line of gowns.

Alaïa Plans New Store

Azzedine Alaïa is set to open his first store since 1992!

Alaïa has revealed plans to open a flagship store near Avenue Montaigne in Paris, reports Financial Times’ Vanessa Friedman. The store will be a part of a five-floor hotel with an interior courtyard and garden that will function as a store, showroom, and some offices.

After the closing of many of his stores and the luxury line became more client-based, a flagship store this size is sure to grab attention.

The store is set to open next March.

Neiman Marcus joins Target in Holiday Collection

A Neiman Marcus and Target collaboration might sound like Christmas in July for lots of fashionistas. Retail stores Neiman Marcus and Target will be collaborating together for a limited edition Holiday 2012 collection.

Together they will feature pieces from 24 CFDA designers, including Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Eddie Borgo and others.

“This is kind of ground-breaking. Neiman Marcus and Target share a passion for great design and delighting customers in new and unexpected ways,” states president and chief executive officer of Neiman Marcus, Karen Katz.

Beginning December 1, both retail stores will sell the Holiday collection online and in-store with designs ranging in price from $7.99 to $499.99.

Badoo’s Fashion-Forward Approach to Social Networking

Badoo, the largest social networking groups for meeting new people, likes to do everything in a big, bold way. On March 22, Badoo with celebrity host Nick Cannon and four of America’s hottest fashion photographers launched the largest photo project ever, capturing the portraits over a 1000 New Yorkers in only three days.

This project is a part of new marketing campaign with 24 of the best photos appearing in billboards and taxicabs all over NYC from April through May. The 24 photos will be picked by the amount of “I Likes” voted on via the Badoo Project’s website. Voting ends on March 31.
