It should come as no surprise that fashion weeks as we once knew them will probably take on a new meaning and direction. We can look to the coronavirus for this re-evaluation. And since the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) may be make a reappearance in the fall—and other just viruses may be on the horizon—the fashion industry is taking a long, hard look at how fashion designers/brands will present their new collections to the industry and the public.
New York International Bridal Week spring 2120 will be the first test of this new direction. Officially cancelled by the Bridal Council and the CFDA, Bridal Week will be the first fashion week to test our digital presentations. New York International Bridal was to take place April 16 through April 19.
To offset this cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bridal Council that the April bridal market will be held digitally. The Bridal Council has asked bridal brands to present to media and a few consumers via ZOOM technology with a small coterie models wearing the latest collections.
Will this be successful? Hmm, the verdict is still out!! However, with many employed global citizens working from home, this may be the way of the future.

Still, its kind of sad that it has come to this. Digital presentations will never duplicate the aww and glory of Ines di Santo’s live bridal collections.
Like a tree, the fashion industry will have to bend. But we still don’t have to like it!!
