Donatella Versace is doing more than just designing clothes. With the help of fashion critic and curator Maria Luisa Frisa and W magazine editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi, Donatella has recently penned a book about the House of Versace.
The 336-page tabletop book, “Versace,” details the history of the Versace brand with 250 black and white and color images by Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, and Mario Testiono with additional commentary by Tim Blanks and Ingrid Sischy. “Versace” includes runway, red carpet, and backstage images of the Versace collections, as well as images of Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and celebrities.
“For me, fashion cannot be confined to one enclosed space. Fashion is part of pop culture, speaks the language of rock and is closely related to art and technology. It is thanks to clothing that contemporary icons create their unforgettable image,” explained Donatella.
“Versace” published by Rizzoli, is available now in Europe and will be released in the US in November.

Victoria and the Hadids
Victoria’s Secret will have two Hadid’s gracing the catwalk. That’s right, this November both Bella and Gigi Hadid will be strutting down the Victoria’s Secret catwalk in Paris.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that both Hadids walking in the Victoria’s Secret show will be the first time two siblings will walk in the show together. Gigi and Bella will join the likes of Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Jasmine Tookes, Lais Ribeiro and Martha Hunt, among others.
The 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show will air on CBS on December 5.

Hajib controversy
Though Indonesian designer Anniesa Hasibuan’s spring 2017 collection was positively hailed by the critics, not everyone praised her efforts. Hasibuan’s spring 2017 collection marked the first time a designer had all the models in a show wear hijabs during New York Fashion Week: The Shows.
“Everyone appreciated my designs, praise be to God,” she said Friday at Jakarta Fashion Week, according to fashionunited.com. Hasibuan has previously shown in Cannes, Istanbul and London, and while Hasibuan has been praised internationally, many critics in her native Indonesia have found her colorfully decorated hijabs immodest.
Conservative Muslims criticize Hasibuan for elaborately embellishing the hijabs in collection, arguing that hijabs are symbols of modesty, not luxurious fashion items. Others complain that Hasibuan’s hijabs did not adequately cover the models’ neck and chest. All the Indonesian criticism of Hasibuan is surprising in that Muslim fashion in Indonesia are more extravagant and daring than in more conservative Muslim countries.
Still, Anniesa Hasibuan is not discouraged. “Controversy is everywhere, I faced it here (in Indonesia) and all over the world,” she said. “But I try to stay positive.”(Associated Foreign Press)
