Ciara has a new job. The newlywed recently signed on as brand ambassador for Revlon.
Ciara has not been in the forefront of a campaign since she posed for the Cavalli 2015 fall/winter campaign. With her brand ambassadorship with Revlon, Ciara will join the current gang of Revlon brand ambassadors, alongside Jessica Alba, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Jessica Biel, and more recent partners Halle Berry, Olivia Wilde and Emma Stone. The pop singer/actress/model has over 18 million Instagram followers.
Diversity takeover?
Thefashionspot.com just released its highly anticipated diversity report on model castings for major fashion weeks for the spring 2017 season. It seems that the spring 2017 season was the most racially diverse season in recent years with models of color making up 25 percent of the model castings.
“For the first time in recent history, more than 25 percent of the model castings were nonwhite,” the report noted, calling the runways for Spring 2017 lines “the most diverse in history…,” as reported in the huffingtonpost.com. New York Fashion Week: The Shows spring 2017 featured 30.3 percent models of color overall, while Milan used just 20.9 percent models of color, making it the worst offender. Paris employed 24.1 percent models of color, while London featured 23.5. This report is compiled from a survey of 299 shows and 8,832 model appearances from the just-concluded fashion weeks in New York, London, Paris and Milan.
While models of color seem to be making bigger strides, transgender models, curvy models and older model inclusion on the runway/presentations still has a long way to go. According to thefashionspot.com report, sixteen plus-size models walked in New York, but there were none in Paris, Milan and London. Ten transgender models appeared in total: eight in New York, one in Paris and one in Milan. According to the report, “women age 50 and above turned up on more runways this Fashion Month than in any other season in recent memory.”
Hailey Baldwin guesses right
Having Alec Baldwin as your father can be a boon to your career, but in order to have a continued relationship with a brand you need to be more than the scion of a celebrated thespian. Hailey Baldwin appears to have more going for her than having an Academy Award-winning mom and hugely popular dad.
Since being signed as a Guess spokes model a few season ago, the not yet-20-year old Hailey Baldwin has scored another success with Guess by landing both the Guess Jeans and Holiday campaigns. Not bad for a model who is only 5`7. But I guess having an Instagram following of 8.7 million helps a lot, too.
In addition to her campaigns for Guess, Hailey Baldwin has been seen on the spring 2017 catwalks of Jeremy Scott, Prabal Gurung, Dolce & Gabbana, Julien Macdonald, Elie Saab, and Tory Burch.
