Nordstrom’s declares a resounding no to Moschino’s “See Now, Buy Now” drug-themed spring 2017 collection. After much debate and brouhaha over Moschino’s drug-themed spring 2017 capsule collection, Nordstrom has decided to pull the already available collection from its shelves and website.

The drug-themed collection that debuted during Milan Fashion Week this past September featured images of medicinal packaging and instructional inserts of over-the-counter medication over several of the pieces in the collection. Playing on the words “capsule collection,” Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott used prescribing information—“shake well,” “warning,” consult for physician before using.”—as graphics on his garments.

Infuriated and appalled by Moschino’s drug-inspired spring 2017 collection, change.org issued a petition that asked for a boycott of Saks Fifth Avenue and Moschino stores that carried the spring 2017 collection. The petition reads, “These accessory items you are choosing to market and sell to the public for profit, which include the Chain-Strap Prescription Bottle Bag and Printed Backpack, will most likely promote more drug use. Do you have any idea of the message your company is sending to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one due to a drug overdose?”

Spurred by the heated protest against the collection Nordstroms’ told Fortune magazine, “We appreciate all the constructive feedback we received from concerned customers and ultimately decided to remove the collection from our site and the three stores where we offered it.” According to CNN, a spokesperson for Moschino said, “There was never any intent to promote prescription drug abuse. We are disheartened to hear that there has been a misunderstanding of the underlying theme of the collection.”

The new CoverGirl/Boy?

We always knew it would only be a matter of time before CoverGirl had a man promoting its products. With the rise of social media influencers and the popularity of transgender models and/or non-gender specific spokespeople, CoverGirl has followed suit by having social media influencer and internet makeup star James Charles become its first male brand ambassador.

Seventeen-year old James Charles spent the entire past weekend on the set working on his new CoverGirl Commercial spot. James Charles has over 400,000 followers via Instagram.

Conde Nast shakeup

When cages start to rattle at Conde Nast, you know things are not good in the publishing world.

Under pressure to increase revenue and circulation, Conde Nast recently appointed former AOL executive Jim Norton for the new role of chief business officer and president of revenue. At the same time, Edward Menischeschi, president of Conde Nast Media Group and Jill Bright, chief marketing officer, have departed Conde Nast’s hallowed halls.

“By organizing the company’s numerous revenue operations under Jim, Condé Nast will be well-positioned to quickly respond to the dynamic marketplace and our clients’ needs,” Conde Nast CEO Robert Sauerberg said in a statement on Monday. “Jim brings a great understanding of the complexities of running a massive sales enterprise and the importance of data-led sales products to maximize our effectiveness. His digital and video media expertise, vast relationships with top global advertisers and commitment to business innovation will be instrumental in our continued transformation into a next-generation multimedia company.”

Hopefully the appointment of Norton can boost Conde Nast slumping digital and video advertising. Time can only tell!!
