Karlie’s new job

Just because Supermodel Karlie Kloss has not been making a lot of fashion news as of late, does that mean that she has not been working. Kloss is always working and her new gig as creative consultant and brand ambassador for Express and its #ExpressLife campaigns proves that.

We’re thrilled to kick off #ExpressLife with Karlie,” said David Kornberg, Express CEO and President.  “This campaign bridges the worlds of fashion, philanthropy and business. Karlie is an influential trailblazer who fits perfectly with our goal to bring the best fashion to our customers, allowing them to express their dynamic, individual styles with confidence.”

“I am excited to work closely with Express as a Creative Consultant and Brand Ambassador,” said Kloss in a recent fashionmag.com article. “I grew up wearing and shopping at Express in St. Louis… I cannot think of a better brand to collaborate with and create designs that capture my personal style.”

The signature item from the #ExpressLife campaign will be a white graphic tee designed by Kloss with the slogan “Like a Kloss.” The proceeds from the sale of items from the #ExpressLife campaign will go to Kloss’ foundation Kloss’s Kode with Klossy, an organization devoted to helping young women learn about coding to become competitive in their professional lives.

Kenzo x H&M

Though some economic pundits contend that the US is still in a jobless or low-wage economy, the high fashion paired with mass-market retail store collaborations continue. And mega retailer H&M seems to have the winning combinations.

Kenzo is the latest high fashion brand to collaborate with H&M. H&M recently revealed three campaign images of its collaboration with Kenzo. Two of the campaigns are women’s wear and the third is for men’s clothing.

The Kenzo x H&M 2016 collection centers on a zebra print in a wide variety of bold colors, styles, and silhouettes. The collection is set to launch in over 250 selected H&M stores across the globe, as well as online on November 3, 2016.

Is London falling down?

Whether you agreed with the United Kingdom’s vote to leave the European Union, one thing is for sure, since Brexit UK retail sales have since it’s most precipitous drop in four years. The decline in retail sales foretells a possible UK recession.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said that retails sales fell dramatically between June 28 and July 14 with retailers reducing more orders from suppliers since the 2008 financial crisis.  This is a startling development in that the British economy was experiencing a robust growth prior to the Brexit vote.

“While conditions in the retail sector have weakened, we should be careful about reading too much too soon, as consumers were likely to err on the side of caution in the immediate period following a vote to leave the EU,” CBI chief economist Rain Newton-Smith said in a recent fashionmag.com article. Still, according to HSBC economist Elizabeth Martins, “It’s a bad start,” said. “If you are looking for a relatively resilient consumer as we are then it’s not particularly encouraging.”
