Another fashion designer bites the dust as Peter Copping steps down as creative director of Oscar de la Renta. After only two years at the esteemed brand, Copping has called it quits.

“Personal circumstances require me to return to Europe. I have loved my time in New York where I hope to return at some point in the future,”  said Coppings in a press release. Before his tenure at Oscar de la Renta, Coppings had a five-year run as artistic director for Nina Ricci. Immediately after Oscar de la Renta death, Coppings took up the helm at the brand aspiring to transform the company from a small family-run business to a global powerhouse.

“We have always been in the business of creating beautiful clothes,” said Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta, adding, “And two of our greatest assets are our design studio and atelier. Our team will continue to work on next season’s collection with a keen focus on the level of sophistication and craftsmanship that are the hallmarks of the house. We wish Peter well in his future endeavours.”

Just Cavalli’s love affair with Coney Island

It seems as though Just Cavalli cannot get enough of Ferris wheels, rollercoasters, and cotton candy. Just Cavalli heads back to Coney Island for its fall 2016 campaign. Creative Director Peter Dundas once again has chosen Coney Island’s ‘Americana’ aesthetic as the backdrop for the brand’s hedonistic fall/winter 2016 campaign.

Inspired by Andy Warhol screen prints, glam and punk rock, fashion photographer Sebastian Faena captures the hedonism of the punk and glam rock era with models sporting neon zebra stripes, leopard prints, and biker jackets paired with pink pixie haircuts, shaggy bob, and slightly smeared lipstick. All this is photographed on a bare boardwalk during early morning hours as models portray night revelers ending a bacchanalian night of hedonistic pleasure.

Betsey Bloomingdale transitions

Fashion icon Betsey Bloomingdale, wife of Alfred Bloomingdale and heir to the Bloomingdale department stores, has passed away. She passed away on July 20, at the age of 93 after a long illness.

As a member of New York City’s high society, Betsey Bloomingdale was a curator of couture garments, even having an exhibit of her gowns at the Los Angeles’ Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising  (FIDM) in 2009. Curator Kevin Jones said of Betsey Bloomingdale, “[Betsey Bloomingdale] explained all of the mystery of the haute couture that has faded away. Now haute couture is used for media and that’s great. But very few people lived the haute couture and she was one of them. For her, it was just a part of her life.”
