Fashion News Alert: Rihanna’s Fragrance, Renting Nail Polish, and Kate Moss’ Documentary

This month Rihanna will launch her third fragrance, Nude,  following her two prior fragrances Reb’l Fleur and Rebelle.

The fragrance will include notes of guava nectar, mandarin, pear, orange blossom, gardenia petals and vanilla orchid. The mix of floral ingredients stays true to the singer’s Bajan roots.

Nude retails for $49 to $59, and will be available in Macy’s stores nationwide on Black Friday .

Lacquerous Rents Nail Polish

Renting high-end designer garments and looks from the runway is not new to the fashion industry. Recently, the beauty industry has adopted  this concept evidenced in the  new online site, Lacquerous.

Lacquerous is an invite-only site where members will pay a flat rate fee of $18 a month and are sent three designer shades of nail polish. After 30 days the members will send the polish back with a prepaid postage label and three new polishes will be delivered in a few days.

The Lacquerous site will feature 70 shades and nine brands to chose from including Tom Ford, Deborah Lippmann, NARS, Butter London, OPI, Chanel, MAC, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana. For more information on becoming a member visit www.lacquerous.com.

Kate Moss’s Documentary

Though she has modeled for over 25 years, Kate Moss is not known for being open about her private life.Rarely giving interviews in the past, Kate Moss is no set to reveal a lot about her life in her own documentary.

Recently, Moss has been speaking about her new role as the face of Mango and her relationship with Johnny Depp, including the launch of her new book, Kate: The Kate Moss Book.

Although there is no news on when the documentary will be hitting the big screen, cameras have been currently following Moss as she promotes her book and works on auctioning off prints next year. We can only hope that there will be a little modeling in there, too.

Fashion News Alert: Nordstrom’s Finalists, Versace Collaboration, and Disney Animates Fashion

CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist

Although there is only one winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, the top ten finalist designers will have collections sold at six Nordstrom pop-up shops.

“It’s a great opportunity for our 10 designers have an in-store presence with a major retailer,” contends  CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb .

Many of the designers are already sold in smaller boutiques, making this opportunity for an even bigger exposure nationwide. The Nordstrom pop-up shops will feature the CFDA finalists in February 2013.

Versace’s New Collaboration

Singer M.I.A. has revealed that she would be representing the iconic Italian fashion house. M.I. A was spotted at  Versace’s haute couture show this past summer.

M.I.A. has a niche for over-the-top glamour that would make for an exciting collaboration with Versace. At an artist’s talk at the Muesuem of Modern Art, M.I.A. unveiled an image of her desktop which included folders titled “Versace Prints”, “Bootleg Versace”, and “Versace Outlines.”

Although no details of the collaboration have been  explained, it would be safe to say that M.I.A. is going to be more then just a face for Versace.

Disney Animates Barneys New York

The highly anticipated “Electric Holiday” campaign for Barneys New York will be unveiled tomorrow. Along with some of the most popular Disney characters getting a runway makeover, many of  the fashion community’s   industry insiders will be getting an animated new look.

From Pat McGrath, Sarah Jessica Parker to Anna Dello Russo, this year Disney has partnered with Barneys to combine the Magic Kingdom with high fashion. Small brief cartoons will be produced and played on loop in the windows of the flagship store location on Madison Avenue.

The cartoon will also feature Minnie Mouse’s  Paris Fashion Week fantasy.

Fashion Sneak Peek: Chanel Iman Embraces Smart Chic in Amazon.com’s Holiday 2012 Campaign

Most of us know Chanel Iman for campaigns with Victoria’s Secret and for being a model of choice for several seasons for Chanel, Philip Lim, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, John Galliano, Tom Ford, Michael Kors and countless others.  Though Chanel Iman has graced the catwalk for renowned couture fashion houses, her editorial campaigns has extended to such commercial brands as The Gap, Express, and Target.

For holiday 2012, Chanel Iman has expanded her ever-growing commercial campaigns to include Amazon.com. Amazon.com looked to smart 60’s chic for their holiday 2012 campaign as they did in their fall 2012 campaign. “The looks are classic, iconic, timeless, and smart,” says Amazon’s Fashion Creative Director, Dennis Leggett. “We wanted to feature ladylike dresses that represent the season.” Chanel Iman embraces this point of view with looks that include holiday metallic dresses, chic flirty frocks, and sophisticated lightweight jackets.

Fashion News Alert: The CW Renews ANTM, Julianne Moore Represents, and Gabby Glams it Up

America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) has been renewed for another season, its 20th cycle. According to the CW, ANTM will air its 20th cycle in the summer of 2013. Since 2003, ANTM has been the premier model reality television program with franchises in over 47 countries, and features spring and fall seasons.

Previously renewed through its current cycle 19 college edition, the CW announced that cycle 20 will for the first time include male model contestants. With cycle 19, ANTM revamped its format to include a social media aspect and a new panel of judges with a new time slot of Fridays at 8pm, EST. America’s Next Top Model is produced by 10 by 10 Entertainment in association with The Tyra Banks Co. Ken Mok, Tyra Banks and Laura Fuest Silva executive produce the series, created and hosted by Banks, and developed by Mok and Kenya Barris.

Julianne Moore, the New Face of L’Oreal Paris

Julianne Moore has named global brand ambassador and new face of L’Oreal Paris, according to WWD. Julianne Moore joins former celebrity spokes models Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, and Lea Michele that have been the face of the brand over the years. Moore will be promoting the Cellular Renaissance anti-aging skincare line, which launches in Europe in January, as well as promoting L’Oreal hair products in the US and internationally.

“I’m an actual user of the brand and it’s hard not to be,” Moore tells WWD. “Every modern woman shops everywhere for beauty, but for me it’s mostly the airport or the drugstore. It’s nice to be promoting something that is accessible to everyone.”

Gabby’s Glam Cover

 Gold medal Olympian Gabby Douglas scores another win with her Essence magazine holiday cover. Douglas graces the Essence December cover in a Notte by Marchesa black and gold cocktail dress complete with Olympic all-around gold medal.

The Essence cover is just another gold feather in Douglas’s cap. Douglas also made the Glamour 2012 Women of the Year list, as well as a beauty campaign with OPI Products, Inc.

Looks like keeping up with the Kardashian Kolor nail polish collection won’t be as hard as you think. Launching its second installment of the limited edition Nicole by OPI holiday collection featuring the Kardashians, this nail polish giant is all about the glitter and simmer this holiday season.

“The six captivating Kardashian Kolor Holiday shades offer the prefect way to add lots of color to this joyous time of year. Wear vibrant red, purple and teal for a jewel-toned looking, or glittery gold, silber and lbue glitter for a classic holiday sparkle – both important trends for the season,” states Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director.

The exclusive holiday polishes will be available in November for $7.99 in select retailers.

Michael Kors Paris Watch

Michael Kors latest watch which is inspired by the city of Paris is sure to make time stop. The American designer launched his Paris limited edition Runway watch as his second timepiece in a destination-inspired watches.

“Paris has always had — and will always have – a special place in my heart. I have nothing but fond memories of working there over a decade ago, and last year we opened one of our biggest Michael Kors flagships on Rue Saint Honré,” says Kors.

With a rose gold tone, 2.5 mm diamond, and a graphic of the Eiffel Tower-dominated Parisian skyline, the Paris limited edition Runway watch is currently available for $650 at select retailers and at MichaelKors.com.

MAC’s Holiday Collaboration

Adding another fashion-forward female to their collaborations list, MAC has decided to team up with Liz Goldwyn for the brand’s first ever range of bags.

The fashion editor turned stylist turned to her own lingerie collection for inspiration and color palette choices. The three piece line features a brush bag, party clutch, and hanging bag all stuffed with MAC cosmetics.

The collection prices range from $39.50 to $49.50 and will be available in stores from October 25 to December 20.

Still looking for that perfect pair of jeans? Thanks to the new recently launched JEAN fit room online by Rag & Bone, you can make more precise decisions around the fit of your jeans.

Whether you are looking for skinny or straight leg jeans,  for over a decade Rag & Bone has offered denim perfection. The new online Fit Room features 360 pictures of women wearing different styles of Rag & Bone jeans to show how they actually fit.

Sephora’s Cinderella Line

Sephora has recently unveiled their Cinderella cosmetics collection for fall/winter. Sephora has decided to do a set of several limited edition collections featuring different Disney princesses, starting with Cinderella.

This full line of beauty products gives a sophisticated twist to the classic princess tale. The collection includes compact mirrors, a 20-color eye shadow palette, nail polish, lipstick, and even a fragrance entitled, “This Is Love…”

Prices range from $20 to $58 and are available now online or in-store.

Harper’s Bazaar New Hire

Harper’s Bazaar has announced Carine Roitfeld as the new global fashion director of the magazine. The former Vogue Paris editor-in chief will collaborate with US creative director, Stephen Gan, on cover shoots and spreads for all 25 international editions.

“I am thrilled to be contributing to Bazaar, a brand with a rich history of creativity. Working with Stephen and a roster of talented photographers will be a wonderful collaborations and one that will give these stories a truly global audience,” states Roitfeld in a press statement.

The March 2013 issue will mark Roitfeld’s debut in collaboration with the international fashion magazine.

Fashion Reverie is proud to announce promotions and some new additions to our staff. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was overwhelming success for us and with that success an increased media presence. On the heels of our success, Fashion Reverie is announcing the following promotions and additions to our staff.

Jeanine Jeo Hi-Kim has been promoted from lifestyle and culture editor to editor-at-large. Karyn Collins has been promoted from contributing fashion editor to lifestyle and culture editor.

Fashion Reverie is proud to announce Chandia Brennen as our Los Angeles‒based contributing fashion editor. And lastly, Fashion Reverie has added a sales and marketing team which includes William Franklin, Erika Golcher, and Joe Quezada.

Fashion News Alert: Candie’s Beauty, Swarovski’s ‘Skyfall’, and DKNY Teams Up

The brand Candies has decided to expand into the world of beauty. In its first beauty launch, Candies’ collection will include a variety of items from nail polishes and lip gloss to soaps, and more.

The collection draws inspiration from sweet floral perfumes and candy-like shades for its color palette. The budget friendly collection price points range from $8 to $35. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

The entire collection is available now at Kohl’s, both in stores and online.

Swarovski and Stephen Webster Collection

Diamonds are forever, but Swarovski is making crystals with a license to kill. Jeweler Stephen Webster has designed a Skyfall collection that draws inspiration from the upcoming James Bond movie with the same name.

The collection celebrates 007’s latest film by incorporating pieces like the Black Bamboo necklace and earrings, the Queen Cobra Double Rings, and the Love Knot ring, which the new bond girl, Berenice Marlohe, wears in the new Bond movie.

Coming in October with prices between $50 and $310, even Dr. No would say YES!

DKNY and Refinery29

Refinery 29 is teaming up with DKNY to launch a bag line inspired by readers and editors of local fashion markets. The collection will include seven handbags, which will be named after Refiney 29’s presence in various American cities.

“We thought about each market and how we see it responding. We are a trend destination, but he bags aren’t overly trendy. They are still classic,” said Piera Gelardi, Refinery29’s creative director.

The collaboration will retail from $195 to $395, available at Refinery29.com, DKNY stores and DKNY.com in March.

Fashion News Alert: Pamela Love Teams Up, Nicole Miller Expands, and Anna Dello Russo for H&M

 

Nine West has partnered with jewelry designer Pamela Love for a fall 2012 shoe collaboration.

Debuting in October, the limited edition Pamela Love for Nine West line will showcase an exclusive bootie design. Incorporating distressed leathers and rustics metal work,the boho-chic inspired collection features Love’s earthy and spiritually based aesthetic.

“I am extremely proud of the collection Nine West and I have created. It’s always exciting to push my own limits creatively to produce pieces that marry my passion for jewelry and footwear that are cool, free spirited and effortlessly chic,” states Love.

The new bootie line will retail for $299 and be sold in Nine West stores and online.

Nicole Miller’s Outerwear Line

Wanting ladies to look their best in the cooler months, designer Nicole Miller has entered a three-year contract with the Amerex Group for outerwear.

“With her style sensibility and Amerex Group’s manufacturing capabilities, the partnership will produce fashion-forward, attainable products for women worldwide,” stated a representative from Amerex.

The lines will include jackets and coats, which are set to hit department and specialty stores for the fall 2013 season.

Anna Dello Russo’s H&M Launch

During Paris fashion week, Anna Dello Russo threw an exclusive event to celebrate the launch of her new accessory line for H&M.

The event was at the famed cabaret nightclub, Paradis Latin. Dello Russo’s glamorous event, with live music performances and a cabaret show, demonstrated how Dello Russo will  inject her own brand on fun into her accessory  collabortion with H&M .

“The Paradis Ball was the perfect way to launch a collection that is all about fantasy and decoration. It was eye-catching, with an optimistic injection of energy that I found particularly inspiring,” says Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

The exclusive line will be available in 140 stores worldwide and online on October 4.
