“Fashion Reverie Talks” Episode 10

“Fashion Reverie Talks” episode 10 is nothing short of a miracle. When Managing Editor Carl Ayers and I considered creating our fashion talks show using the ZOOM format, we didn’t really know we could pull it off. However, ten episodes later, the proof is in the pudding. We did it!!

As the last episode of 2020, episode 10 looks back at the greatest moments in fashion for the year 2020, These greatest moments were supplied by Fashion Reverie’s editors. Editor-in-chief William S. “Fashion Reverie Talks” Episode 9

There were several motivations behind “Fashion Reverie Talks” episode 9. First, we wanted to include some 2020 holiday coverage, and that we did. And we wanted to include conversation about the state of American malls. Additionally, there were some important fashion updates that we felt viewers needed to know about.

When it comes to the holidays, we all know there is nothing better than a great cocktail. Fashion Reverie managing editor Carl Ayers brilliantly curated some great holiday cocktails in his 2020 holiday cocktail article, and for “Fashion Reverie Talks” Carl facilitated Riccardo Fuller making two 2020 holiday cocktails.

Something that was new at Fashion Reverie was the staff selecting individual items for our holiday gift guide. “Fashion Reverie Talks” co-hosts Carl Ayers, Tijana Ibrahimovic, Cicily Daniels, selected two items from our curated gift guide and featured those items on “Fashion Reverie Talks.” These selections were diverse when it came to price point and brands, but consumers’ needs, and likes were also taken into consideration. At Fashion Reverie we always try to present brands and fashion and beauty products that consumers may not know about. And for our 2020 Holiday Gift Guide our staffers hit the ball out of the park when it comes to originality, diversity, and age demographics.

We only have one more episode of “Fashion Reverie Talks” for this year. Just think about 10 episodes in this great year of change, reflection, and innovation. And incredible accomplishment indeed.

“Fashion Reverie Talks”: Episode 7

Episode 7 of “Fashion Reverie Talks” is a very special episode. Fashion Reverie’s editor-at-large Karyn Collins passed away on October 28. She was so important to Fashion Reverie and got our publication its first interview with ballerina Misty Copeland. We miss her so much and episode 7 of “Fashion Reverie Talks” is dedicated to Karyn Collins.

In this episode we examine how serious the fashion industry is about upcycling. Fashion upcycling is when fashion brands/designer take discarded fabric, embellishments and fixings and created a whole, new garment. The upcycling process is great for the environment and cuts down on the global footprint. This article was co-hosted by Cicily Daniels and penned by associate editor Kristopher Fraser.

Co-host Tijana Ibrahimovic gave voice to what American Ballet Theatre (ABT) principal dancer Misty Copeland is doing in this COVID-19 downtime. Copeland has launched a dancer’s relief fund, “Relief for Swans, that helps unemployed dancers. She has also had time to decorate her 3.1 million- dollar Upper Westside apartment. Additionally, ABT soloist Gabe Stone Shayer has partnered with Chanel to produce a mini-documentary series, “Pas de Deux,” that shows dancers collaborating with other creative artists.

Co-host Cicily Daniels talked about the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s new exhibit, About Time: Fashion and Duration. About Time: Fashion and Duration will pair garments at moments in antiquity juxtaposed against modern expressions. The garments will be connected through shape, motif, material, pattern, technique, or decoration.
