Fashion Reverie looks back at iconic designer Patrick Kelly. In the 1980s, Patrick Kelly set Paris on its head by using creating outrageous garments that incorporated multicolored buttons, grosgrain ribbons and controversial African American iconography. Kelly became the first American member of the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter. Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, and Bloomingdales carried his design and his clothes were worn by Cicely Tyson, Betty Davis, Grace Jones, and Isabella Rosellini. Patrick Kelly died in 1990. A retrospective of his collections was held at the Brooklyn Museum in 2004.
