Dennis Basso is true to his roots and not new to fashion. For over three decades, the designer has wowed his jet-setting, uptown clientele with evening wear and cocktail dresses. He has even found himself in the world of suburban mothers who shop his affordable QVC collection. For spring 2027, the designer brought his uptown girls into a new era.
With such a tried-and-true clientele driving his business for so many years, Basso wanted to honor his brand’s heritage while bringing his classic uptown Eastside girls into a new era. While he stuck to his eveningwear classics, like brocade dresses, printed gowns, and sparkling trumpet dresses, he also courted younger consumers with cocktail dresses with floral appliqués, wrap dresses for daywear, and resort-style tweed mini dresses.
The collection included original-print silk chiffon, four-ply silk charmeuse, featherweight tweed, hand-embroidered beadwork on silk organza, brocades, and feathers. Although it is a spring collection, Basso showcased some of his brand’s faux-fur evening boleros, reimagining “summer fur” for today. The “summer fur” refers both to an unexpected fashion trend of wearing fur or faux fur during warm months and to a famous historical photograph. The photograph featured someone on Miami Beach wearing a fur jacket in unseasonable 31-degree weather in the 1940s.
Knee-length cocktail dresses and polished occasion daywear in tweed were featured alongside flowing chiffon dresses, both long and short. For black tie, dramatic gowns are embellished with pearls, paillettes, bugle beads, and hand-cut crystals.

The show was closed by iconic supermodel Christie Brinkley, who wore a beige corseted off-the-shoulder dress with an embellished neckline and an elegant train. Although Brinkley briefly got lost toward the end of the runway, unsure which direction to go, the moment entertained the audience, and she looked delighted as she continued to strut. Like Brinkley, Basso’s girls are always going somewhere, and wherever it is, it’s an adventure in style.
