New York Fashion Week (NYFW) fall 2026 marks my tenth year being a fashion journalist! It’s quite surreal that a full decade has passed. My very first season of NYFW was February 2016. The trip to New York City from my hometown of Atlanta was so exciting. The shock of a blistering New York City winter didn’t mean much because I was headed to fashion week! Ten years later, the rigor of getting through another season remains enticing. In order to celebrate my decade milestone, I am going to share some of my favorite things to successfully get through NYFW for the fall 2026 season.

February weather is probably the most heinous time of the year. One season, as I walked to a presentation at Pier 59, a blizzard fell earlier that day, and I just had to suffer through the piles of snow. One of the best things that got me through that walk were my Chanel snow boots, Coco Neige boots from fall 2019 collection. They are comfortable, insulated as well as durable. What makes these shoes even more special to me is it is a part of Karl Lagerfeld’s last few collections at Chanel before he died in 2019.

Movement is essential during NYFW, so my second important item is my H&M Oversized Winter Coat with my Burberry scarf. I generally wear loose clothes like sweats and barrel jeans with cashmere sweaters and nice jewelry. Turtlenecks are also essential for me with a wool blazer. These clothing choices really help me to get through the day and the weather without a lot of fuss.

When the weather isn’t heinous, I prefer sneakers since walking and standing are such a big part of fashion week. One of my favorite sneakers are the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 by Asics. Asics have one of the most reliable insoles which make walking around the city for hours much easier.

Since fashion week requires so much travel around the city, a small bag is required. I usually go for my North face Mini Boreal Backpack to carry all my stuff. For my reporting, I’m “old school,” I like to write my articles with a pen and pad before transcribing them for submission. I love my Wexford Mini Composition Book and my favorite pen BiC Velocity 1.6 pen because it writes like a fountain pen.

Since I’m dedicated to minimalism during fashion week, I usually write my articles on my Window Word App on my iPhone. Another essential is my Anker Nano Power Bank travel charger, no matter how new your phone is, your phone will inevitably get worn down by all the things you need to use it for.

To keep my energy up, I like to keep a can of mocean®. My favorite right now is the Mandarin flavor. I love anything mandarin during this time of year. Even though I am huge coffee lover, this is a nice alternative, so I’m not buzzed off caffeine.
In this past decade I have gone through the trials of just carrying too much. Worrying too much about my outfit. And just bogging myself down. But as I came to learn there is style opportunity in movement, durability, and practicality that make each season more efficient for my work and super fun.
So, everyone going this season, have fun and stay warm!
