It has finally happened. Anna Wintour is leaving American Vogue as its editor-in-chief.

Announced on Thursday, Wintour will step down as editor-in-chief of American Vogue while maintaining her job as global chief content officer at Vogue and chief content officer at Condé Nast. Wintour has led this leading American fashion publication for 37 years. American Vogue is conducting a search to replace Wintour.

Anna Wintour was editor-in-chief of British Vogue from 1985 to 1987 before becoming editor-in-chief of American Vogue. Throughout the 1990s Wintour brought celebrity culture to the fore of American fashion, with celebrities replacing top fashion models on the covers of American Vogue.

Wintour’s notable covers during her tenure at American Vogue included, but are not limited to, First Lady Michelle Obama on the March 2009 cover, Sarah Jessica Parker’s return as Carrie Bradshaw for the “Sex and the City” movie (June 2008), Kate Moss’ wedding to Jamie Hince (August 2011) —American Vogue‘s biggest-ever issue at 916 pages—and  Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s April 2014 cover.

Wintour also helped launch the careers of many fashion designers including Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Joseph Altuzarra, Zac Posen, Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez, Jonathan Anderson, and more. And Wintour has done more for the Met Gala than one fashion luminary. After co-chairing in 1995, Wintour has transformed the Met Gala into a star-studded event, raising as much as $33 million in 2025 for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Willy and Fendi?

The designer shuffle at luxury fashion continues with Willy Chavarria’s name being thrown into the mix. Wagging fashion tongues are intimating that Chavarria may take over the creative directorship at Fendi’s couture of womenswear divisions.

The current position has not been filled after the departure of Kim Jones. The position is currently held by Silvia Venturini Fendi.

Fendi is in early talks with Chavarria, as they are in early talks with Maria Grazia Chiuri, John Galliano, Pierpaolo Piccioli, and Francesco Risso. Currently, Willy Chavarria is the creative director of his namesake brand and Calvin Klein’s menswear.

Doll fashion

Jean-Paul Gaultier has collaborated with Bratz for a limited-edition collector doll launching on July 2, 2025. The collaboration, Bratz x Jean Paul Gaultier, mirrors Jean-Paul Gaultier’s legacy with Bratz signature style.

“This exclusive collaboration celebrates two icons of nonconformity, creating a collector’s piece where Bratz meets the world of Jean Paul Gaultier,” said the house of Jean-Paul Gaultier, as detailed in fashionnetwork.com. “Spectacular, avant-garde and outrageously iconic, Bratz x Jean Paul Gaultier doll is designed for true ‘enfants terribles’ only.”

As explained in fashionnetwork.com, Sasha, the doll featured in the collaboration, has two haute couture inspired outfits. Sasha first outfit reimagines one of Gaultier’s archival designs—a sculptural pink velvet bustier dress paired with a metallic “Gaultier” chain belt and black patent cleated heels. Sasha’s second look, curated from Gaultier’s ready-to-wear collection, channels punk-meets-nautical chic with a marinière crop top, pleated tartan mini skirt with buckle details, and a white sailor hat.

“Bratz has always celebrated radical self-expression through fashion,” added Jasmin Larian-Hekmat, Bratz creative director. “Partnering with an icon like Jean Paul Gaultier, who has consistently challenged norms and redefined style for decades, is a testament to Bratz’s enduring place in the fashion sphere. This is Bratz at its boldest and most unforgettable.”

The Bratz x Jean Paul Gaultier collector’s doll will be sold exclusively online via Bratz and Jean-Paul Gaultier, respectively. This collector’s doll will retail for $150.
