Fashion Reverie would like to wish you a very happy New Year. We hope you enjoyed your holiday season and some much-deserved rest and relaxation. With an arctic blast sweeping much of the United States, we are happy to serve you some piping hot tea. A new year brings many new happenings in the fashion industry from more designer comings and goings to political scandals that could rock the fashion industry with the inauguration of Donald Trump. 2025 is already off to an interesting start. Pass your teacup, we’re pouring the tea.
This major luxury brand, whose bread and butter is its accessories, is facing harsh criticism after it finally leaked how much it costs to make one of its most famous handbags. At a cost of only $84 to make, people are now furious at its retail price tag of over $2000 with inflation. If enough of the public catches on, they might need to reconsider how they are pricing this bag or put out a new entry-level ‘It’ bag for people to aspire to because ignorance is no longer bliss.
This major fashion industry executive, who is not even a U.S. citizen, has been caught red-handed getting his hand in American politics. Although he is not American, his company has an American arm. One of the company’s beauty brands has donated money to Donald Trump, angering many of its consumers, most of whom are women and LGBT people who statistically gave little support for Trump. A boycott is being called for this company, as its once proud consumers are looking to shop at their competitors instead.

This major fashion designer, who has spearheaded this luxury brand, bringing it closer to household name status, is now being eyed to take over this historic brand that’s already a household name. Rumor has it that this historic brand is seeing its sales struggle under its current creative director, and the brand’s owner is looking to bring in some new blood. With this young designer’s success at this slightly smaller brand, he’s seen as a brilliant choice for the job.
This burgeoning designer, who was considered one of the top contenders for the artistic director job at Chanel, succeeding Virginie Viard, apparently leaked the news of his being shortlisted for the job. While it was recently announced Mathieu Blazy, former creative director of Bottega Veneta, would take over Chanel, according to this designer, he was one of the other top contenders.
The reason he leaked the news of him being shortlisted, however, was because he was trying to boost his own brand’s sales, which have been struggling. While this designer has become known for his handbags, his ready-to-wear leaves much to be desired, and its poor quality has resulted in high return rates for his clothes. He should invest in making higher-quality merchandise instead of leaking news to the press.
