Skincare Secrets for Autumn 2024

As the weather gets colder, you might notice some adverse effects to your skin.  The changing of the seasons always provides extra concerns, particularly from summer into the fall.

Fashion Reverie chatted with supermodel/actress Molly Sims’ personal esthetician, facialist and brand ambassador for YSE Beauty, Catherine Esposito about how to improve the look and feel of your skin without a complex, 18-step skincare regime. Enjoy!!!

To get beautiful skin for fall is really a two-step process.  First you want to reverse any hyper pigmentation, get rid of dead skin, and rehydrate from days of enjoying perhaps too much time in the sun. Esposito recommends finding a good quality product with tranexamic acid.  From Sim’s YSE Beauty line, The Problem Solver is perfect for getting back to a good base as it has both tranexamic acid and niacinamide.  “It really clears up your skin. It’s kind of similar to getting a laser treatment after summer,” Esposito explains.

Secondly, you need to hydrate your skin in preparation for the colder temperatures.  Esposito stresses that hydration is extremely important for you skin in every season, (seriously moisturize your skin all year round) but “moving into the colder months, you want to make sure that you feel it on a deeper level … I love [YSE’s] Xtremely Rich, it’s super nourishing.  It’s going to keep you plump all day.”  With key ingredients including ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid, microalgae, and licorice root extract, Xtremely Rich rebalances the skin’s microbiome, targets dark spots, and provides lots of hydration.

While we love a good all over moisturizer, some spots just need a little extra love as they seem to always get dry no matter what you do.  Esposito has a trick to help fix those troubling dry areas on your face, “Going into fall especially, I would take the YSE lip mask [ Like a Gloss] if you’re feeling a little dry in specific areas such as underneath the eyes or even around the nose. If you’re going to sleep, you can dab it right there [in those sensitive, extra dry spots] to make sure that you’re adding a little extra hydration.” shares Esposito.  You can also apply a little on your marionette lines for a more youthful look while you’re at it.

So now that you’ve improved the look of hyper-pigmentation from sun damage, removed all the dead skin, moisturized all over, is there anything else you can do to have your skin look it’s best for fall?  Esposito shares that she personally loves YSE’s Vacation Glow Highlighter Stick. “The highlighter stick is something that I literally have in every single one of my bags, because it just gives me that little glow, which is perfect if you’re like feeling a little dull moving into the winter months.”  It’s super easy to use to get a radiant complexion even when you’re short on time.  “I just put a little bit on when I’m running an errand and it makes me feel more complete …  it’s just the perfect accent for when you don’t want to go full makeup, but you do want to look [polished and ready to take on your day.] The highlighter stick paired with Skin Glow SPF, which is both sunscreen and primer [in one] is the perfect combination; simple, ready to go, flawless.”
