With the summer season ending, plenty of brands are bringing out new and exciting collections that will be showcased during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) spring 2024 season. Both new and emerging designers are showing their spring 2024 collections. Each brand has an intrinsic style that captures what makes NYFW special and unique. Fashion Reverie has selected seven menswear and non-binary brands that are some of the most innovative and interesting to look out for.

Streetwear-centric brands are taking over the fashion industry, with looks coming from influencers, artists, athletes, and other fashion lovers on a global scale. Consumers have gotten a taste for unique and creative pieces from names like Who Decides War, Jason Wu and more in past seasons. However, this season is showcasing signature looks that have been expanded and innovated upon. From Palomo Spain and Private Policy to emerging designers like Love, Kelly (Kelly Butts-Spirito) making his brand’s debut at NYFW, these designers are pushing the message of breaking away from conforming to societal regulations and developing your own self-expression.

The style of these clothes can help consumers achieve a greater sense of freedom thanks to the way each piece is designed. These brands are inspired by their community and where the designers got their footing, all while being progressive and fashion forward.

Dion Lee

Dion Lee is an Australian-American designer whose brand is all about high-end downtown looks. Each of his silhouettes features a way for the consumer to transform into an alter-ego, where they can unlock their fullest and most trusting form through individualism and expression. For example, in his fall 2023 collection, each garment was beautifully presented with experimental tailoring, resulting in a unique and powerfully simple approach to both men’s and women’s fashion.

Lee likes to experiment with ready-to-wear design that has subtlety, texture, and sculptured silhouettes. His fall collection featured some iconic men’s wear: blown-up puffer jackets, see-through shirts styled with shoulder-padded jackets and leather jackets paired with shredded jeans. It will be exciting to see what his spring 2024 collection holds.

Love, Kelly

Creative director turned fashion designer Kelly Butts-Spirito is producing his first ever New York Fashion Week runway show. The garments are said to be simple and futuristic, distinguished by three different themes that represent important moments in his life. The show will feature three short film pieces and a collection of clothing for each movie. Each garment is made with different materials and will be a mixture of streetwear and high-end fashion.

Palomo Spain

Designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo is returning to NYFW. Palomo brings out the best of who he is by shedding light on his queer exuberance in a way that adds to his exciting menswear style. His clothing is meant to represent nuanced relationships between pleasure and challenge the boundaries of politics by being inherently uncritical of what the consumer wears.

Private Policy

Last season, Private Policy, a New York-based inclusive brand, wanted the consumer to wear garments that incorporated more of nature into everyday city life. Designers Siying Qu and Haoran Li wanted the individual to share the mindset of animals who are free, with the hope of instilling within each person the idea of one day feeling that shared sense of freedom while harmonizing people through a connection with nature. At the end of the day, we can expect to see a lot more creativity and uses of expression with their upcoming spring 2024 collection. Consumers should expect to see a collection that includes fashion built for those who appreciate this ever-changing industry.

Gypsy Sport

Gypsy Sport, the streetwear brainchild of LA-based designer Rio Uribe, is finally back in the spotlight after missing NYFW in 2020 and the pandemic years that followed. It comes after having their 10-year anniversary last February. The collection is aimed at celebrating his youthfulness and cultural background. Uribe’s streetwear truly helps him to stay connected with his Chicano cultural heritage and is a huge inspiration for each of his pieces. Viewers of his upcoming NYFW show can expect traits of his background to manifest in his collection.

Who Decides War

Everard Best created Who Decides War, a brand with unique clothing for all genders, including specialized jeans, shirts, and sweatshirts. The brand is paying its respects to the Big Apple while celebrating NYC hip-hop icons through personal expression with each collection. The brand’s pieces are truly eye-catching and include showstopping shirts that are paired with distressed jeans and embroidered puffer jackets. Elements of dimension, metallics, leather, patchwork and windowpane silhouettes are featured. Be on the lookout for this brand during NYFW to see what they have in store for spring 2024.
