The epitome of Award Season is the Academy Awards. Though we love the Grammys, Golden Globes, BET Awards, and MTV Awards, when it comes to red-carpet fashion, no award show does it better than the Academy Awards.
As we all luxuriate and glory in all the beautiful red-carpet looks from some of our favorite actresses and female celebrities, little coverage is given to what some male celebs are wearing at the Oscar’s red carpet.
In this age of an expanded perspective on masculinity, Fashion Reverie has selected some great red-carpet looks from the 95th Academy Awards. Some of these looks are rather traditional, while some are pushing the proverbial fashion envelope. Enjoy!!
Austin Butler
Though Butler didn’t win Best Actor for his star turn in the musical biopic “Elvis.” But maybe winning the Oscar was not such a huge loss for Butler. Earlier in awards season, he won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award for Best Actor.
At any rate, Butler was a winner on the Academy Awards red carpet in a classic, double-breasted, black Saint Laurent tuxedo, Now, this is a good look!!
Samuel L. Jackson
At this year’s Academy Award Samuel L. Jackson was a testament that style and charm don’t have to diminish as you get older.
This 1994 Academy Award nominee and 2021 Academy Honorary Award winter was sharp as a tack in Giorgio Armani tuxedo with silver jacket.
Harry Shum Jr.
There was a particular concentration on expanding the perspective on what is appropriate for male celebrities on the red carpet. And Harry Shum Jr. aptly represented this modern perspective by donning an Adeam tuxedo with blue piping on the white jacket, accessorized with an Obi belt. And the Christian Louboutin men’s cocktail pumps finished off his look. The perfect look for an Academy Award winner.
Paul Mescal
Though Mescal did not take a lot of risk with this Gucci white jacket tuxedo look, the cuffed flared black slacks did harken back to the 70s. Can anyone say, “Staying Alive”?
Lenny Kravitz
Kravitz is always expected to show up on the red carpet in something avant-garde or non-traditional. And at the 95th Academy Awards, Kravitz did not disappoint.
Kravitz’s 70s-inspired Saint Laurent rocker look says it all. Sexy in your 50s, always pushing the envelope, and knowing what works best for you, is all summed up in this black-on-black red-carpet look with combined blouson sash.
Dwayne Johnson
A big, muscular dude like ‘The Rock’ is not expected to push the proverbial fashion envelope; however, Dwayne Johnson did. And body did he!!
Masculine enough to pull on a pale pink tuxedo. Johnson was pretty in pink and as handsome as ever in this Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo with black bowtie.
Though he still looked a bit blocky in this ensemble, who cares its Dwayne Johnson. Now other big guys can follow suit.
Greg Tarzan Davis
“Top Gun: Maverick’s” Greg Tarzan Davis brought a look to the red carpet that was both now and next. Davis really brought in an all-black Givenchy ensemble.

Ram Charan proved how you can hold on to your heritage and still look fashion forward. Charan rocked the 95th Academy Awards in a custom-made Maison Shantanu and Nikhil black ensemble that included a black South Asian durga skirt.
