After a few years of COVID-19 shutdowns, Bridal Week this season applauded the return of weddings. Pulling out all the stops, some designers showcased new collections again, the first time since the outbreak.  As designer Pnina Tornai explained, “this collection is all about celebrating love as we used to pre-COVID and understanding that two are better than one.”

Designers outdid themselves with showstopping gowns and separates, and styled them (sometimes unexpectedly) with accessories, hairstyles, and makeup for their fall 2023 collections.

Here are some of the top bridal week beauty trends to try this season, even if you’re not heading to the chapel!

Blushing Brides

Rosy cheeks and weddings go hand-in-hand, so, it was no surprise to see lots of blush once again on the runways and presentation floors of New York Bridal Week.

For a bright shade, Bobbi Brown’s blush in Pale Pink gives a nice pink hue.  Or if you’re looking for a more natural flush, try another favorite, NARS blush in Orgasm, a favorite among brides and designers since it debuted several years ago.

Colorful Hair Pieces

Who says you need to wear head-to-toe white on your big day? At Reem Acra, gorgeous white lace dresses were paired with slicked back buns and colorful veils.

Ines Di Santo’s presentation also played with color not only in her gowns which were shades of lilac, blush, and even pale blue, but also in the models’ hair. Peter Gray and his team applied and braided colorful extensions for each model in shades of pink, purple and blue.  Next, the pastel streaked braids were pinned into an updo and adorned with colorful flowers.

Pearl Statement Earrings

Instead of dainty earrings, Anne Barge’s collection paired strapless gowns donning detachable sleeves with statement-making chandelier earrings featuring strands of pearls and single tear-shaped pearls as well, to complement the rich fall fabrics.

Brown Eyeliner

For a softer look, skip the traditional black.  At Ines Di Santo, Cassandra Garcia, Lead Makeup Artist with Bobbi Brown lined eyes with Long Wear Cream Shadow in shades, Taupe and Cinnamon and used Golden Amber in the inner corners for an elegant eye, perfect for any upcoming nuptials.

Hats

In shades of cream and white, hats were another big accessory showcased at Anne Barge.  Marrying the old and new and bringing hats back to the wedding scene is a great way to add something a little extra on your big day.

Matte Pink Lips

A soft matte lip pairs so well with bridal looks, so much so that many designers featured various shades of matte pink.  At Ines Di Santo, Garcia chose Bobbi Brown’s Boss Pink Luxe Matte Lip Color to pair with the fairytale collection.

  1. I like the subtle beauty of the makeup. It’s there, but not over the top. I’m personally not a fan of the color in the hair, but I wanted to make sure I looked like my everyday self at my wedding and my hair isn’t colored in any way. I’m a little surprised to see hats coming back, though!

  2. Oh my – I want those pearl earrings! The brown eyeliner looks lovely – I think I will toss my black because I love the softness the brown gives the women.

  3. The colorful veil would be so pretty against a single color bridal gown!

  4. I like the idea of colorful hair pieces! I think it gives that pop of color that slightly breaks tradition.

  5. The blushing become more common over the past years. A lot of girls use it and it’s interesting to see it on the runways.

  6. Beautiful trends and lovely hats. I would love to add Matte pink lips to my list for trends
