Editors’ Picks: The Fashionable Home Workout

Believe it or not, a few good things came out of the pandemic (which is still not over—get vaccinated and be safe, gentle readers). Many of us are still working from home and may do so permanently (at least on a part-time basis). Still others are realizing that a daily trip to gym wasn’t as necessary as we thought. Not only can working out at home be effective, but it also robs us of excuses.  No one can say traffic held them up or they were worried about the weather. With on-demand and live streaming, we can work out whenever we want to a previously recorded video or with live instruction and feel part of a community.

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, and we might—emphasis on the word might—have to go into another lockdown, Fashion Reverie has curated a fun list of everything you’ll need to create a functional and convenient home gym. Time to work off those pandemic pounds while getting fit and strong and remaining ridiculously chic.

Good American

Looking for some affordable, high quality, fashionable, flattering size-inclusive workout clothes? Of course; that’s what everyone is looking for. Good American has a huge line of awesome clothes that go all the way up to size 24. Fun, bright, and comfortable, they can easily be incorporated into your everyday wardrobe. If the name “Good American” sounds familiar, brand ambassador Khloe Kardashian’s commercial for the line was removed rejected from tv for being “too racy.”

Foam Roller

If you’re going to be working out at home, it’s important that you have the right tools to avoid injury and relieve pain. Spiked massagers may seem extreme to the beginner, but you too can do this safe, effective, self-massaging technique in your own home.  The cylinder uses bumps to softly soothe your soft tissue, stretching short muscle fibers, and break up harmful lactic acid build ups. Sport massages and acupuncture sessions are pricey but even high-end foam rollers are less than $30. And who can put a price on a lack of pain?

Pilates Ball

Pilates Ball is another inexpensive piece of equipment no home gym is complete without! Using a stability ball will improve the strength of your abs and lower back. Since a yoga ball is unstable, you have to use your body’s core strength to remain balanced, which in turn improves balance, flexibility and body alignment. And you use it while watching TV, sitting at desk, just about any time. Most come with air pumps for easy inflation.
