It is a very unique year for red carpets, celebrity appearances, performances, and especially awards shows. However, the entertainment industry always creative and innovative on its side. The 2020 Video Music Awards (VMAs) proved that the show can go on with just a little adjustment.

Staged at different locations throughout New York City, viewers got to see their favorite celebrities, celebrate music artists’ work, witness some fantastic outfits, and get a message across that a new era of awards shows is here. Here are Fashion Reverie’s 2020 VMAs favorite looks.

Keke Palmer, the host of this year’s show wore a light blue pastel mini dress with a jeweled slit and a big bow! She looked sexy and super cute when looking cute is not what we usually expect on a typical VMA awards show. However, she totally brought the avant-garde feel during her performance of her single “Snack,” when she donned on a neon bodysuit. (Side note: Keke Palmer hosting the virtual version of the 2020 VMA awards makes her the first African American to host the virtual VMAs.)

For Jaden Smith’s 2020 VMA appearance, Jaden wore jeans! It does seem underwhelming, but he paired the jeans with a chic colorful jacket and matching shades, making his look excellent for a remote VMA-style photo shoot. Jaden’s chunky sneakers added to his color-blocked ensemble.

Nicole Richie wore one of the few red-carpet looks to this first digital VMA. Richie stunned in a Cong Tri light green cocktail dress with a long train. She added a punk rock headband for additional edginess.

Machine Gun Kelly stood up from the crowd in an amazing Berluti fuchsia outfit by.  In this outfit Machine Gun Kelly proved that real men can and should wear pink! And if that wasn’t enough color, he threw in a pearl necklace for some interesting color-blocking.

The Weekend completed his nod to the 80’s by wearing a bold red jacket and black slacks. But what was going on with his bruised face? Everyone was a little worried until it was revealed that his “look” was inspired by his new album. It’s questionable if this make-up trend will take on; however, the good news is The Weekend was not hurt.

If Lady Gaga is expected to attend any award we all know to expect something spectacular! In other words, an array of different looks is the norm with lots of surprises. Lady Gaga’s mask-matched outfits were the real winner of the show. For her red carpet-worthy look when she was presented with the VMA Tricon award, Lady Gaga wore a black dress, platform boots, an oversized Area silver jacket with a clear helmet by Muscarella, necklace by Edward Avedis, and platforms by Pleasers. Now, that’s channeling the VMA’s moon person!!

Is the goth look back? Well, kind of, if you are Supermodel Bella Hadid. Bella showed all her sexiness at the 2020 VMAs in a off-the-shoulder Nensi Dojaka bodysuit with matching black slacks. In this ensemble, everyone should call Bella, Bella the Bold!!
