There was lots of controversial buzz around Victoria’s Secret last week when the brand’s CMO Ed Razek said in an interview with Vogue that Victoria’s Secret would not be interested in using transgender models in their annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. There was lots of clapback on social media and recently Razek offered an apology to diverse communities and the transgender community. “My remark regarding the inclusion of transgender models in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show came across as insensitive. I apologize. To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings … And like many others, they didn’t make it … But, it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are,” said Razek in a press release.
