Calvin, Christy and Ed?

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Twenty-six years ago, supermodel Christy Turlington was the face of the Calvin Klein fragrance, Eternity.  This time around Christy is again the face of Calvin Klein’s latest fragrance, Eternity Night, but she will have an interesting bedfellow.

Turlington will front the Eternity Night ad campaign with her actor/filmmaker husband Ed Burns. “Christy and Ed are the ideal couple to represent our timeless Eternity Calvin Klein fragrance, as we continue to support the brand with a new global advertising campaign and an expanded offering with Eternity Night Calvin Klein,” said Tom Murry, chief executive officer of Calvin Klein Inc.

Fashion News Alert: Cavalli Sketches Katy, the Met Gala’s Strict Dress Code, and Martin Margiela Maison and Mykita Team Up

Anna Wintour does not play, especially when it comes to this year’s Gala at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute.

Recently renamed the Anna Wintour Costume Center, for this year’s gala honoring the work and legacy of legendary American couturier Charles James, Ms. Wintour has asked all male attendees to come in full evening dress with decorations. For those who don’t know what full evening dress is, it means being donned in a black tailcoat, a waistcoat, a wing-collared shirt and white bow tie.

Though some welcome the “putting on the ritz” attire, Marc Jacobs is nonplussed about all the pomp and circumstance.  Jacobs, according to Vogue UK feels that this Met Gala is “much more straightforward,” and “not as exciting as wearing a lace dress and boxer shorts.” Hmm, didn’t Marc Jacobs flaunt that look at the 2012 Met Gala.

Still, getting a black tailcoat and waistcoat is no small feat, even in NYC. And what are the LA lads going to do? Fashion Reverie will keep you posted.

Cavalli and his outrageous sketches

Three seems to be the charm for Roberto Cavalli. First he sketched a gown for Beyonce’s, next he sketched an onstage costume for Miley Cyrus, and now he is doing the same for Katy Perry.

For Perry’s Prism tour, the ever-evolving pop phenomenon will be wearing Cavalli.  We know the onstage outfits will be sexy and elegant, with just the special touch of Katy Perry flava!!

It’s all about teamwork

Collaborations seem to be the order of the day in fashion and European brand Maison Martin Margiela has taken up the banner by collaborating with sunglass brand Mykita for a spring/summer 2014 unisex sunglass collection.

Known for ultra-light eyewear made from metal plates and assembled without screws, Mykita in its collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela seeks to reinterpret historical forms through construction and an unconventional approach to materials. Miley Cyrus has even jumped on the bandwagon by tweeting a photo of her wearing the new shades.

The “MMMESSEOO6” sunglasses retail for $550, and available only at  Mykita and Maison Martin Margiela stores.

Fashion Reverie Reaches 20 Million Hits

celebration_03

Though Fashion Reverie likes to keep its readers informed of what is going on in the fashion industry globally, we think it is equally important to keep our viewers up to date with all the changes within the company.

First and foremost, Fashion Reverie would like to celebrate reaching 20 million hits. It has been an arduous journey, but well worth the time, hard work, and dedication. And it would have been impossible without the support of our online audience, Fashion PR associates, fashion industry professionals, and the many friends, colleagues, and family members we have stuck by us. Thanks and thanks again!!

Recently, Fashion Reverie has added some new additions to the staff. Carl Ayers is the new managing editor at Fashion Reverie. Carl comes to Fashion Reverie with an extensive background in fashion and entertainment and is a welcome addition to the staff.

Janine Silver is our new beauty editor and I am sure our readers having been enjoying her timely and on-trend beauty stories. She helped out so much with curating the bridal beauty looks for our recent bridal editorial with Miss USA, Erin Brady.

Though Lisa Briffel has only been with Fashion Reverie a few months, she has put good use to her time at Fashion Reverie as our Director of Sales and Marketing. She has helped us with the rebranding of the company across all our social media platforms, as well as brainstorming on our new logo. We expect great things from her.

And last, but not least we have added Sissy Yee as our new graphic and media layout artist. She comes to Fashion Reverie with an extensive arts background and we are excited and blessed to have her.

Karyn Collins has been promoted to the position of Editor-at-large. With over two decades of experience in the industry, we are confident that she will be brilliant in that position recently vacated by Jeanine Kim.

As we celebrate promotions and new additions to our staff, sadly and regrettably some contributors have moved on to other opportunities. John Woody, Will Cisco, and Francesca Simon have parted ways with Fashion Reverie. We wish them continued success in their creative endeavors.

Kristen Stewart scores another one

You either love her or you hate her. And if you have Karl Lagerfeld in your camp does it matter what the naysayers have to say? Not!!

Kristen Stewart has scored three Balenciaga campaigns in the past few seasons and now Chanel is knocking at her door!!  Stewart told Grazia magazine, “The [photo shoot] was effortless and he’s awesome and he’s so sweet,” she raved. “The only intimidating thing about [Karl] really is that scary unapproachable facade which is something people project onto him I think.”

Kristen Stewart will be the face of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collection. And true to form she is all made up to look like an American Beauty Rose in true ‘Yellow Rose of Texas” style.

Bye, Bye Big Apple

Victoria’s Secret is taking its show on the road and out of NYC.  The next stop appears to be London and it will be taking supermodels Adriana Lima and Candice  Swanepoel with them.

“We’re very proud to announce that we’re heading to London this year,” says Lima. “The Victoria’s Secret Show is the biggest fashion show in the world, for sure, so it will be amazing to bring the show to London. I love it here. Especially the shopping!”

Though the televised Victoria’s Secret show started with humble beginnings at the Plaza Hotel in NYC in 1995, mega pop stars like Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli gave the show a boast when it was televised from Bryant Park in 2001.

According to brand marketing director Ed Razek, the show has wanted to be televised from London since 1998 and on December 2, 2014 the show will be a black tie affair with a possible appearance by supermodel Cara Delevigne.

”I’ll let you into a secret,” Razek said. “I told Cara a few days ago and asked her to save the date, so hopefully she will walk. She was excited. And she kept the secret for a whole week!”

Scott’s business was sustainable

Though it has been suggested that L’Wren Scott’s fashion brand was headed toward financial ruin, a spokesman for L’Wren Scott has come forward with statements denying those rumors.

“The figures quoted in the media regarding the financial status of LS Fashion Limited are not only highly misleading and inaccurate but also extremely hurtful and disrespectful to the memory of L’Wren Scott,” said a spokesman for the brand.

“Ms. Scott was considering a re-structure of her global business … Her business overall was only seven years old and although some areas of the business had not yet reached their potential, other parts of her business were proving successful.”

L’Wren Scott was 49 years old at the time of her suicide. Funeral details have not been revealed.
