In spite of charges of model molestation, fame photographer Terry Richardson continues to get work photographing fashion campaigns.

Supermodel Kate Moss and hip hop artist Wiz Khalifa joined forces with Richardson for Eleven Paris’ fall/winter 2014 campaign. “We wanted an eye capable of capturing these rebel spirits without taking things too seriously,” said Dan Cohen, one of the founders of the Eleven Paris.

This is Richardson’s second campaign for Eleven Paris.

Enough Kanye

When it comes to acting out and ranting, no one does it better than hip hop and fashion bad boy Kanye West. Recently at London’s Wireless Festival Kanye raved and railed for 20 minutes against the fashion industry, turning off and causing many attendees to walk out of the festivities.

I’m not dissing Louis Vuitton, I’m not dissing the Gucci group. I’m just saying, don’t discriminate against me because I’m a black man, or because I’m a celebrity… I can’t create . . . no black guy or celebrity is making no Louis Vuitton nothing,” the 37-year-old shouted at fans that had originally booked tickets to watch Drake, who pulled out of the festival, as recorded in the fashion.telegraph.co.uk.

The cause of Kanye’s angry diatribe; no one quite knows? Maybe, Kanye is nonplussed that the Vogue issue with him and Kim Kardashian on the cover failed to meet expected sales or his recent APC spring 2015 men’s collection is not garnishing favorable reviews.

Posen and the brothers

Zac Posen keeps adding up the credits. In addition to his own red-carpet luxury line, Zac Posen was recently named creative director of Brooks Brothers women’s ready-to-wear and accessories lines.

Brooks Brothers, which has over 300 stores worldwide, is looking for Posen to add a bit of glamour and fashion-forward sensibility to its women’s line. Posen’s first collection for Brooks Brothers will be available in stores in spring of 2016.

Fashion News Alert: Adidas Cuts Ties with Suarez, Gisele’s New Coif, and Lacoste L!ve Launches Fragrance

Gisele Bunchen’s flowing tresses are gone; well at least for the new Balenciaga ad that will be released in a few months.

Balenciaga artistic director Alexander Wang has Bunchen rocking a buzz cut and thigh-high leather boots in the recent campaign. “This is how I see Gisele for Balenciaga; strong, powerful, mysterious and uncompromising,” Wang told WWD. “This season we worked with this idea of vanity, staged in a room filled with mirrors. But the cracked mirror is a continuing thread from the marble veins and creeping ivy leaves from seasons past.”

The Balenciaga campaign was photographed by Steven Klein and will appear in magazines in September.

Biting retribution

Cursing, fighting, and yes, even biting can get you in whole lot of trouble, especially if you are spokesperson for a global brand.

Uruguayan soccer star Luis Suarez has been dropped as a spokesperson for Adidas after biting an Italian opponent during a World Cup match last Thursday. “Adidas certainly does not condone Luis Suarez’s recent behavior and we will again be reminding him of the high standards we expect from our players. We have no plan to use Suarez for any additional marketing activities during the 2014 FIFA World Cup,” said Adidas in a brief statement to the AFP.

Suarez has also been suspended by the FIFA for nine international games, as well as disqualified for four months from any soccer-related activity.

Adidas was Suarez’s official sponsor.

Divinely Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys has lots of music fans and with her new Givenchy perfume campaign; Keys will acquire scores of new fashion and beauty fans. Givenchy’s Dahlia Divin campaign that features the Grammy-Award winning Alicia Keys will launch globally in September.

“It seems that only one type of beauty is seen as beautiful. I think it’s very important that we stretch that concept and the way that it’s viewed. The biggest mistake is to think that beauty is physical. Beauty is so internal, and it’s about who you are and what you believe in, what you stand for. That’s what makes you beautiful,” Keys told WWD. “I think that’s really important to infuse into the conversation in the beauty world. I would like to see different representations of what beauty is. I’d like to see women with a little more voluptuousness. There’s no way in the world that we’re all a size 2, and people beat themselves up if they’re not small enough or light enough or dark enough or skinny enough.”

Schiffer magic

From Kate Moss to Adriana Lima, it seems that supermodels of the 90s and early 2000s are scoring some of the industry’s most prestigious 2014 and 2015 ad campaigns. Add Claudia Schiffer to the list.

Schiffer appears in Dolce & Gabbana’s winter 2015 ad campaign dressed in ornate D&G dresses as Queen of a mystical forest. The new winter campaign demonstrates that Schiffer still fits in and hasn’t lost her magical touch.

Francois Girbaud resurfaces

Remember those fantastic Girbaud Marithe jeans of the 1980s and 90s? Since the company went bankrupt a few years back, little has been heard from the denim visionary Francois Girbaud. Other than being involved in water conservation and laser technologies, Girbaud has been all but absent from the fashion world.

Well, that is all about to change as it was recently announced that Francois Girbaud would be joining LA–based jean company, J Brand. Though his title and position has yet to be confirmed, Girbaud admits that he will be very comfortable in Los Angeles around transplanted French confreres from the world of denim.

Since the departure of J Brand founder Jeff Rudes last May, the company has experienced a lot of shakeups. Andrew Rosen has taken over the general management from Fast Retailing president Tadashi Yani, and Lynne Koplin was hired from True Religion, given the title of president in charge of retail, sales, merchandizing, and e-commerce.

Since the brand’s acquisition by Fast Retailing the denim brand has incorporated ready-to-wear lines. J Brand has a goal of become full-fledged fashion brand in the near future.

Fashion News Alert: Lagerfeld Sued, Kate Moss’ New Look, and Melissa McCarthy’s Fashion Line

Kate Moss knows how to mix it up. And this ability keeps her fresh and employable

The 40-year-old supermodel yet again has landed another campaign. 2014 has been a banner year for Moss with several campaigns under her belt. And Kate again joins forces with the French hairstyling brand Kérastase Paris in new ads for their luxury collection.

Kate Moss conjures up images of Brigitte Bardot for Kérastase Paris’ summer 2014 luxury collection. Kérastase Paris artistic director and hairstylist Luigi Murenu in a press release stated, “The Brigitte Bardot ‘mussed-up’ 60’s look is both quintessentially French and completely universal. Kate Moss is the Brigitte Bardot of today. She epitomizes the freedom that every woman wants.”

Letter Liability

It has come down to letters on sneakers!! That’s right, a big alphabet on the side of sneaks.

New Balance is suing Karl Lagerfeld for putting the alphabet “K” on the side of sneakers in his namesake sneaker line similar to the alphabet “N” on the side of sneakers on New Balance sneakers.

On June 3, New Balance filed a suit for copyright infringement. In a statement released by the footwear company, “New Balance filed a lawsuit against Karl Lagerfeld to protect our intellectual property rights related to our iconic Lifestyle footwear designs.”

McCarthy’s Payback

Necessity is the mother of invention, or so the adage goes. Melissa McCarthy is paying suit. After being snubbed by designers for the 2012 Academy Awards, McCarthy is taking up the case of plus-size women by creating her own plus-size line.

McCarthy is a 2012 Oscar nominee, Emmy winner and Elle cover girl. So, you think designers would line up to dress her. Wrong!!! “Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me,” McCarthy told Redbook in an interview appearing in their July Issue. “I asked five or six designers—very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people—and they all said no.”

So, McCarthy is taking matters into her own hands by collaborating with Daniella Pearl on a plus-size line. “I went to school for clothes and textiles,” she told Us Magazine in 2011, “so I always thought I was going to do women’s clothing anyway. [Then I went] from FIT to doing stand-up, so I feel like I am going back to it.”

Lopez’s New Love

Jennifer Lopez has a new love; a new boyfriend in her new music video that is. Supermodel David Gandy plays Lopez’s love interest in her new music video for single First Love, from her new album AKA.

“I can’t be too specific about the video at this point as it’s not out yet, but I play her love interest,” Gandy told vogue.co.uk. “I’ve been asked if I’d take part in music videos before and I’ve always said no, but I jumped at the chance of working with a music icon such as Jennifer. The conditions to shoot in were very challenging due to the weather—we were in the desert outside LA and the winds were incredibly strong and we had to deal with plummeting temperatures and sandstorms—but the atmosphere on set was great and we all had a lot of fun.”

Though Gandy is still the face of Dolce Gabbana, he has a couple of film projects lined up. “I have the largest project of my career happening later this year,” he revealed. “I can’t say much at the moment, but we are working heavily on that right now.”

Fashion News Extra: Sunny Skies for Rachel Roy?

It is not sunshine and lollipops yet for Rachel Roy, but there may be some light behind the dark clouds.

In March, The Jones Group, Roy’s fashion label’s parent company, attempted to sell Roy’s fashion brand and trademarks and stopped production of Roy’s fall 2014 collection. Inside sources detailed that The Jones Group felt that Roy’s label no longer fit in with the strategic direction of the parent company. Rachel Roy’s fashion label was to celebrate its tenth year anniversary.

Today, Rachel Roy won an injunction against The Jones Group after filing a petition against the parent company in April. “When it comes to trademarks, when it comes to designs, it’s very personal in nature, and I got that sense from reading Miss Roy’s affidavit,” New York Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Oing said. This winning injunction prevents the sale of Rachel Roys’s fashion label and trademarks and practically ensures the lawsuit will go to trial.

All this is great news for Roy who has also has had her name bandied about in the recent fracas between Solange Knowles and Jay Z after Solange had a tete a tete with Roy at the 2014 Met Gala. Not quite blue skies yet for Rachel Roy, but a definite relief from recent storm clouds!!

A/X Armani Exchange was launched in 1991 and caters mostly to an American market. The line consists mostly of affordable men’s and women’s jeans, tee shirts, and shirts.

Yves Saint Laurent’s Nitty Gritty

Bertrand Bonello’s film “Saint Laurent” examines the underbelly of Yves Saint Laurent debuted at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend.  In contrast to the biopic released earlier in the year that had the full support and approval of Pierre Berge, Yves Saint Laurent’s business and romantic partner, “Saint Laurent” reflects back on the iconic designer’s personal life, a life filled with depression, drugs, illicit sex, and misogyny.

French actor Gaspard Ulliel who portrays YSL in the film told reporters “Yves was born a depressive almost. He had suffered from depression from adolescence at least … His homosexuality also exposed him to mockery and hasty judgments, as did his fragility and slenderness. Part of his success undoubtedly comes from taking revenge on the hand life had dealt him.”

In “Saint Laurent,” Bonello looks back on the designer’s life in the years between 1967 to 1976, conjuring up the wild, hedonistic years before the AIDS epidemic. “Saint Laurent” is one of 18 films in competition for the top Palme d’Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
