Must-Have Spring 2019 Trends

Images courtesy of thecut.com

Winter has officially overstayed its welcome, and we are totally over it. Leave the monochromatic earth tones in the past as we retire past trends for a mix of patterns, prints, and power pastels. From feather flair to Cali-inspired tie-dye, high-end biker shorts, and ‘itty bitty teeny weeny’ handbags, these are the key trends to ready your wardrobe for the spring 2019 season. Here’s Fashion Reverie’s biggest spring 2019 trends:

Crochet Craze

A resort wardrobe need, this nautical bohemian trend is making a high impact on fashion. From hippie chic to modern luxury, the crochet granny-inspired trend will make her proud. The woven options are endless from matching sets, tops, rompers, bikinis, bags, and berets. Victoria Beckham, JW Anderson, Oscar de la Renta, and Phillip Lim are just a few of the designers integrating this delicate dainty craftwork into their collections.

Biker Shorts

Designers Chanel, Fendi, Prada, Jacquemus, and Roberto Cavalli have taken this trend to a new level with animalistic prints, bold colors, embroidered designs, and unique fabrications. Once considered a fashion don’t, cycling shorts are the new short of 2019. Kardashian-approved, biker shorts are not only for the gym. This athletic-inspired trend is still gaining traction and will continue to popularize within the year. Is it possible that biker shorts will replace leggings?

Feather Flair

Jump to a feather touch for spring 2019 as this couture silhouette offers sensuality and is anything but subtle. Designers No.21, MSGM, Oscar de la Renta, Celine, Saint Laurent, Burberry, Rochas, and Tom Ford are opting for this glamourous frou frou detail. Whether it’s ostrich or peacock feathers, this fun and whimsical embellishment is taking over the faux fur scene.

Zebra Print

Get close to the wild outback in this animal instinct take over. From classic coats, accessories, slouchy bags, and knee-high boots; Other Stories, Topshop, Phillip Lim are jumping on the safari train with inspired patterns. Although leopard and cheetah print are the go-to print, consider the cool girl alternative, zebra print. This new optical illusion animal print has been spotted on the streetwear queens themselves, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid.

Lavender Love

One might recall Ultraviolet as the color of the year for 2018, yet the range of hues are endless as pastels are popping on and off the runway. From lavender to eggplant, this purple pastel screams springtime.  Leave Millennial Pink in the past, as street styles are loving a softer, flattering, and feminine color.

Micro Mini Bag

Flooding our Instagram feeds, Simone Porte Jacquemus introduced his small, yet impactful tiny accessory. Bag lady, it’s time to downsize with this new microscopic nano “It” bag; as our accessories continue to shrink smaller and smaller opt to only bring the necessities. Welcome to the year of downsizing.

Tie Dye

Say goodbye to your monochromatic palette, as this tie dye renaissance is an unexpected spring trend. As “this year’s most woke trend,” Beyonce herself is embracing this psychedelic color comeback. Taking a more fashion-forward approach, the evolution of this creative handmade process has now elevated to high fashion status with couture fabrics, unexpected shapes, acid washes, denim applications, embellishments, and feminine silhouettes. A symbol of individuality and a reflection of freedom and hope, tie-dye is a representation of a peaceful future to come.

Silk Scarf Prints

Spring 2019 is the season of prints. In power print clashing glory, every designer is embracing statement prints and patterns. No longer just a standout accessory, designers have transformed traditional scarf motifs into elaborate creations. Known for its chic flair and retro styling this trend is a mix of travel, leisure, bohemian and Orientalist themes. Dominating accessible brands Zara and ASOS, silky and drape-like scarf prints have taken on the runway at Versace, Balenciaga, and Jacquemus.

Fall 2019 Runway Trends

With the end of March on the horizon, international fashion weeks have come to an end.  From fall 2019 runway shows in Paris and New York to London, Tokyo, and Milan, Fashion Reverie speculates on what fall 2019 trends will make consumers’ pulses quicken. This season’s runways brought us a taste of everything from minimalism to saying au revoir to Karl Lagerfeld and his final runway collection for Chanel. Between the snowy streets of New York and the somber streets of Paris, the fall 2019 season was certainly an entirely different beast.

Glam Rock

It might not be the ‘70s in Britain anymore, but Glam Rock is back. Brands like Michael Kors, Faith Connexion and Hakan Akkaya brought the elevated rocker style to the runways. Rock on with your glitter and glam style.

Animal Print

From zebra prints to cheetah prints, the runways were animalistic this season. Designers were having a safari of a time with their fall 2019 collections and found in animal print patterns a great way to add some fun to collections that are minimalistic in tone.  It’s time to earn your stripes and spots.

Statement Necklines

For fall 2019, you will not need a diamond necklace to draw attention to your neckline. Sometimes, a good structured neckline is all you need. One-shoulder tops aren’t just for summer nights anymore.

Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, and Prabal Gurung images courtesy of crfashionbook.com, harpersbazaar.com, and vogue.it, respectively

Feathers

What was once an accent detail for Vegas showgirls and drag queens has become a gold standard for luxury dressing for fall 2019. Get pretty in plumage this fall and bust out your feathered dress. Marc Jacobs proved it is possible.

Fendi, The Row, and Boss images courtesy of vogue.com, gorunway.com, and crfashionbook.com, respectively

Beige

Beige has long been a wardrobe staple, so who would have though the classic color would be runway trend. This season, designers showed how many shades of beige are fashionable and that beige isn’t another boring workwear color. Thank you Fendi and Hugo Boss.

Off-White, Christian Cowan, and Victoria Beckham images courtesy of getty.com, Purple PR/Dan Lecca, and fashionista.com, respectively

Neon Heels

Neon color been a major trend for the past year, but for fall 2019 neon colors have transitioned from apparel to shoes. The granny church shoes are out the window, and we’re on our way to funky town. Talk about it, talk about it, talk about it!!

Deconstructed Knitwear

Knitwear is always a staple for fall collections; that said, for fall 2019 designers deconstructed knitwear silhouettes and rebuilt the knitwear built to create something original. Knots on knits were big this season thanks to J.W. Anderson doing a cable knit style tie on a jersey dress. This fantastic deconstructed knitwear garment gives consumers a new meaning to wrapping up.

Editors’ Pick: Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya Spring 2019 Capsule Collection Campaign

Do you love retrospective or vintage-inspired garments? If you do, look no further than the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya spring 2019 capsule collection.

Inspired by the Battle of Versailles fashion show that took place in Paris in 1973, Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya incorporated some classic 70s silhouettes into their spring 2019  capsule collection. Hold on to your horses because there are lots of flared pants, psychedelic prints, and shiny satin materials. Can anyone say, “More, More, More”?

“Zendaya has become a global icon, using fashion to make bold statements while always staying true to herself. Our capsule collection fuses her eclectic style with the Americana spirit of our brand,” said Hilfiger about the capsule collection.

And there is nothing more Americana than a look back at vintage 70s fashion. This 70s capsule collection conjures up images of Battle of Versailles, which was a charity fundraiser runway show to restore Louis XIV’s colossal residence. The Battle of Versailles highlighted the brilliance of black models—Pat Cleveland, Alva Chinn, Norma Jean Darden, Billie Blair, Bethann Hardison, China Macado, and others—with those iconic models showing the mostly French audience how versatile and important the American sportswear aesthetic of Stephen Burrows, Halston, Oscar de la Renta, Anne Klein, and Bill Blass could be.

Images courtesy of lesfacons.com

The collection, which ranged from high-waisted, wide-leg denim and easy suiting to curve-hugging jumpsuits and flirty, glittery dresses for a night out dancing, will surely appeal to any customer enamored with ’70s style. Posing against a backdrop of wood paneling, Zendaya models wide-leg pants, tailored suiting and chic dresses with looks that are casual, yet elegant.

The Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya spring 2019 collection is now available at usa.tommy.com.
