Summer Suit

Everyone looks great in a suit.  This spring/summer Fashion Reverie advises you go in for popping, vibrant colors. Many fashion designers showed this look on the runway, some with matching shoes!!!

California Style

Tie dye and wetsuits! How summer appropriate! Get inspired in separate pieces or a combination of both. California with its warm, balmy weather and relaxed style is always on our mind.  And this time that California style inspired many European designers. We are yet to see a celebrity pull this look off properly, but we hope to see Gigi Hadid in it. After all, she is a California girl!!

Kate Middleton image courtesy of Missoni

Crochet

Missoni is definitely a master at crochet. Still, that doesn’t mean the other designers should give summer crochet aesthetics a try. For spring/summer 2019 Missoni and other brands gave us so many options, including many folk elements. Artisanal handmade crochet can be made to look so elegant and luxurious, even royals can’t resist.

Print

Minimalists, it is time to venture out. Florals are always in when it gets warmer, but you should wear it combined with other patterns and shapes!! Small print, large print, combined with leopard or zebra, go for it and have fun.

Bleach Treatment

For spring/summer 2019 we are back to the 80’s with strong shoulder silhouettes and acid wash denim. You might like it or hate it; however, our favorite celebrities fully embrace it.

Biker Shorts

You might disagree but in Fashion Reverie’s opinion biker shorts can be very flattering. It is comfortable and it keeps everything in place. If you have insecurities about your fanny, just wear a tunic.

Now this is a trend worth investing in. You will always be able to incorporate beige into your wardrobe. It is simple, practical, and so universal. The head to toe oatmeal look is embraced this season!

The Met Gala 2019

The Met Gala is one of the biggest fashion events of the year. Every year the Met Gala is based on the exhibit on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The brainchild of Eleanor Lambert, who started New York Fashion Week and the CFDA, the Met Gala was initially an annual fundraiser the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. In 1948 the price of a ticket to the Met Gala was $50 with tickets to the new exhibit and a midnight dinner.

Under the auspices of the late, great Diana Vreeland the Met Gala became one of the biggest social events of the season and is also one of the biggest fundraising events. Contributions and ticket sales have no reached an excess of $200 million.

Since 1995, American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour has been the chairman of the Met Gala and getting a ticket to this exclusive event is not only very expensive, but very difficult to obtain. For the 2019 Met Gala, the ticket price is upward of $35,000 with tables going for $200, 000 to $300,000. This year the Met Gala is sponsored by Gucci and Conde Nast.

Correlating to the Costume Institute’s exhibition “Camp: Notes of Fashion,” the 2019 Met Gala proved to be the most outrageous and widely watched Met Gala in the history of the event. The 2019 exhibit is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.” The co-chairs of the 2019 Met Gala was tennis superstar Serena Williams and Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele. And the hosts of the 2019 Met Gala were Lady Gaga and Harry styles.

Here are few of Fashion Reverie’s favorite looks from the 2019 Met Gala.

No one does camp better than Lady Gaga. With four outfit changes in 15 minutes on the red carpet, Lady Gaga opened her costume performance with a voluminous skirt with 25-foot train. Gaga collaborated with fashion designer Brandon Maxwell for her costume performance.

Did Janelle Monae invent modern-day camp? Well, if she didn’t, she should have. Janelle continue her reign as the queen of camp in Christian Siriano.

Nicki Minaj gave a nod, well kind of, to Marie Antoinette in a bedazzled Prabal Gurung pink silk taffeta cocktail dress with long train.

Jennifer Lopez showed off her fantastic curves in a white sequined flapper like Versace dress.

Gwen Stefani looked the showgirl that is dear to our hearts in Moschino.

Another showgirl at the 2019 Met Gala was Celine Dion in Oscar de la Renta.

Talk about camp!! Supermodel Cara Delevigne is all saucy camp and whimsical fun in Dior Haute Couture.

Ciara turned it out as a bird of another feather in a feathered and sequined green Peter Dundas gown with 70s huge afro coif.

Cardi B may have given Lady Gaga a run for her money with her look. Thom Browne’s maroon costume enveloped Cardi B and she needed a lot of help getting down the red carpet. Hmm, doesn’t she look like the caterpillar in “Alice in Wonderland”?

No one lit up the 2019 Met Gala red carpet better than Zendaya. She conjured up a Disney Cinderella in a Tommy Hilfiger dress that actually changed color as the gown dramatically lit up, changing to Cinderella at-the-ball blue. You work girl!!

Is this the chandelier from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”? No, its Katy Perry in Moschino.

No one makes camp look sexier than supermodel Kendall Jenner is an orange feathered Versace concoction.

The King of Camp, Jeremy Scott, turned it out on the red carpet. Jeremy is accompanied with his muse that night Bella Hadid. Both are attired in Moschino.

Conjuring up Cher, Emily Ratajkowski stuns in Peter Dundas.

And last, but not least, Queen Nefertiti has arrived. That’s right “Pose’s” Billy Porter made a quite a statement in The Blonds while carried on the shoulders of six muscle men.Staff

Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of April 29, 2019

There was a time, not too far back in the world of yesteryear, that the prime time to view get celebrity red-carpet fashion was in January and February with a few key movie premieres thrown in for good measure and the occasional music award show.  You know the American Music Awards in the fall and the MTV Awards in June.

Well, so much has changed!! There are a plethora of awards shows that pop up on the calendar throughout the entire year and red-carpet fashion at film screenings, movie premieres, and fashion events is a must-do for celebs. Particularly, if they are trying to gain media proliferation.

All that is good news for Fashion Reverie. We are never in short supply of great fashion from top celebrities. From the 2019 Billboard Music Awards to some very key fashion magazine covers, this week was all about the glamour and diversity.

No woman of color is setting hearts pacing more this season than Priyanka Chopra. She is not letting any grass grow under her feet since she hitched up with Nick Jonas. Priyanka is all glamour and sex appeal at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards in a low décolletage sequin and crystal-embellished white Zuhair Murad gown with Tiffany jewels to match. Life is just too good right now for Priyanka!!

Sports Illustrated demonstrated just how diverse they can be by included a Muslim model in a burka in their current issue. Halima Aden looks regal and cutting edge at the same time in a Cynthia Rowley burkini.

Canary yellow suits Cardi B well. And she proves that she has been putting some time in the gym, showing off her very svelte body in Moschino at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

Julianne Hough has the legs and tight body to pull this silver lame Genny ensemble off at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. Still, maybe she could have gone for a better choice. The look is bit trying too hard. Would’ve worked better on a young ingenue or rock n’ roll babe. Julianne is neither!! Stick with the sexy cocktail dresses!!

“Extremely Wicked’s” Lily Collins showed her fans what real glamour is by looking exquisite in a Giambattista Valli gown at the London premiere of “Tolkien.” Where some actresses would have looked like they were wearing a floral comforter, Lily Collins was all springtime freshness and elegant femininity.

Olivia Wilde has recently taken up the mantle of directing. Her directorial debut “Booksmart” is scheduled for release on May 24. That said; the new director looked sophisticated and pulled together in a gold/bronzish lame Ralph Lauren coat dress at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

Diversity, diversity everywhere and many a drop to drink!! “The Good Place’s” Jameela Jamil shines in Bibhu Mohaptra’s fall 2019 fuchsia satin double blazer with joggers for the cover of the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar India. Three cheers for a Pakistani actress on the cover wearing garments by an East Indian designer. Now, that’s diversity as a focal point, not an afterthought!!

“Night School’s” Anne Winters was seen rocking “Candy” Prive Revaux shades at the 2019 Coachella Music and Art Festival. I am sure those shades helped her handle Cochella’s desert heat. And they also look purty!! —William S. Gooch

Lea Michele and Zandy Reich“Glee” alum Lea Michele said, “yes to the dress” and yes to her fiancé in a Monique Lhuillier strapless silk wedding gown on March 9. The intimate ceremony was officiated by “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy with couple’s family members and closest friends in attendance. “We are so excited to be married and grateful to be surrounded by our friends and family. And most of all, we’re so happy to spend the rest of our lives together,” Lea Michele told people.com.
Fashion Reverie is really looking forward to other celebrity couples getting married in 2019. Fashion Reverie picked three and which bridal designers/brands we would like to see on the brides-to-be.

Images courtesy of vogue.com and people.com

Kylie Jenner and Travis ScottAn Inbal Dror bridal gown would be perfect for Kylie. Kylies likes to show of her curves, so the silhouettes in Inbal Dror’s wedding garments will certainly accomplish that. Inbal Dror’s fabrics are embroidered with transparent sleeves with feathers. This look will satisfy Kylie penchant for avant-garde or non-conventional style.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex RodriguezThey have both tied the knot before—in fact, this will be J-Lo’s fourth time at the altar—and it is Fashion Reverie’s belief that they are keeping it simple, focusing on their blended families. Jennifer brings dramatic looks to red carpets and just about anywhere she goes; however, her wedding gown will be something in between dramatic elegance and simple sophistication. Fashion Reverie suggest strapless but princess gown by Viktor and Rolf. Jennifer Lopez will be blissfully beautiful in white!!

Images courtesy of vogue.com and people.com

Katy Perry and Orlando BloomKaty Perry likes a frock that frames her physique. Since Katy is not very traditional when it comes to her style, Fashion Reverie suggest an embellished Zuhair Murad gown. She would look angelic.
