The 2020 Grammys’ Red Carpet Fashion

This week’s Celebrity Fashion Sightings is all about the Grammys. While the Oscar’s and the Golden Globes’ red carpets are mostly about celebs putting their best foot forward and styling and profiling in the latest fashions from the fashion industry’s top designers, the Grammys’ red carpet is about something else.

The Grammy’s is about making a statement, and that statement can be sophisticated, fashion forward, or outrageous. And at the 2020 Grammys, outrageous kind of ruled the day. But, that is just fine because the outrageous was lots of fun. And Fashion Reverie was front and center to cover all the great, outrageous fashion.

No one could be more outrageous this red carpet season than Billy Porter. Now did Billy Porter show up on the red carpet or was it a black Lady Gaga? At any rate, Porter wowed the red carpet in an aqua Baja East jumpsuit with rhinestone bell-bottoms and a matching wide-brim hat.

Jamil Jameela knows how to mix high and low fashion. Jamil wore a beautiful black and purple Georges Chakra gown with $56 ASOS lace-up high-heels boots. And it worked!!

For those not familiar with pop singer Joy Villa, Villa uses her red-carpet appearances to support conservative causes. At the 2020 Grammys Joy Villa contacted the White House and informed them that she would wear something supportive of Trump. And that she did.

Villa donned a red, white, and blue latex Trump dress. Fashion Reverie does not know who the designer is. But, does it really matter; after all, it is a Trump dress!!

Celebrity Fashion Sightings: The 2020 Golden Globes

The Golden Globes marks the beginning of the red-carpet season. Though the Golden Globes occur right after the holiday season, celebrities are not shy about bringing out all the stops with great fashion. It is important for celebs to start the year off on the right foot, demonstrating that they are body fit and can bring the right amount of charm, elegance, and style to major red carpets. And Fashion Reverie was front and center, primed and ready to bring you all the great fashion and not-so great fashion from the 2020 Golden Globes.

Jennifer Lopez usually slays on the red carpet, but this year’s Golden Globe ensemble was not her best moment. The custom-made white Valentino gown with oversized bows was not a good look for J-Lo. Still, Fashion Reverie loves J-Lo—we feature her a lot—so this one faux pas is forgiven.

Another miss of the evening was Laura Dern in a floral Saint Laurent. This look made her look matronly, like a character from “Little House on the Prairie.”

Though Charlize Theron’s look was a risk taker and not her best look, overall the Dior Haute Couture gown worked for Theron because of her modelesque look and pixie haircut.

Images courtesy of ITB/Zimbio

Who says a plus-size celeb cannot looks good show off her curves on the red carpet? Well, “Dolemite Is My Name’s” Da’Vine Joy Randolph proved that curves and lusciousness are compatible bedfellows on the red carpet by looking delicious in a Christian Siriano pink gown with exposed décolletage and bow-inspired ruffle sleeves. Da’Vine Joy was beautifully accessorized in Lark & Berry’s Flora Diamond Earrings ($6,435) paired with Flora Emerald Detachable Drops in Solid 18K White Gold ($5,193.50.)

Kerry Washington really understands how to mix edgy fashion with more standard looks. Always willing to take a risk on the red carpet, Washington takes a risk in this Altuzarra ensemble, opting for an open blazer and high slit skirt ensemble, baring it all with a crystal rope tying it all together. Kerry Washington tops off this look with Marli New York earrings and ring.

Annika Noni Rose channeled her inner nature goddess at the 2020 BAFTA Tea Party pre-Golden Globe Award ceremony on Saturday, January 4th. Another dramatic miss at the 77th Golden Globes was Gwyneth Paltrow in a diaphanous brown ruffled Fendi gown. This vintage look was a real dippity don’t for Paltrow. There is nothing more to say.

Billy Porter continues to make dramatic statements on the red carpet. At the 2020 Golden Globes Porter donned an Alex Vinash white feathered tuxedo.

Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of November 25, 2019

Almost no one has better legs than pop sensation Ciara. And Ciara showed off the gorgeous gams in a pink sequined Versace minidress at the 2019 AMAs, set off by Kallati earrings and Brumani rings. Images courtesy of red-carpetawards.com and D’Orazio and Associates

Not everyone could pull off this Rodarte floral concoction, but Katherine Langford did at the 2019 AMAs. Where this look would overwhelm some celebs, Katherine Langford pulled this look off with aplomb. She is accessorized with a beautiful diamond Le Vian ring.

Images courtesy of lifeandstyle.com and D’Orazio and Associates

Oscar de la Renta fits Camila Cabello well. And it particularly looks great on Camila at the recent AMAs. This puffy dream of tulle and floral embellishments was accessorized with Djula jewelry.
