Slimane gets his due

As reported by the AFB, French commercial court has ordered Kering to pay Saint Laurent former creative director Hedi Slimane $13 million dollars damages. Hedi Slimane filed a lawsuit concerning the non-compete clause signed with Kering, calling for the non-compete clause to be reinstated after it was lifted by the parent company.

“We won,” said Herve Temime, Slimane’s lawyer to Reuters. “I welcome this decision which is entirely completely natural, as the contractual arrangements where crystal clear.”

When Slimane abruptly left Saint Laurent on April 28, Kering, the holding company for Saint Laurent, sought to remove the non-compete clause from Slimane’s contract. Slimane took legal action against Kering demanding “payment compensation.” Kering has yet to comment.

Nick and Moore

Moore Clothing is partnering with Nick Cannon for the launch of its Seventh Annual Canadian Suit Drive. The Canadian Suit Drive provides clothes for unemployed people so that they can look good while interviewing for jobs and transition back into the workforce.

“A suit not only changes your appearance, it changes your whole demeanor,” says Doug Ewert, CEO of Tailored Brands, Inc, in a news statement. “It’s about feeling confident enough to reach your full potential, and the Canadian Suit Drive gives men that opportunity to put on a suit and enter an interview with the confidence they need to win their next job.”

Actor/producer/TV Host Nick Cannon will also contribute suits from his own closet to the effort.  From July 1 to July 31, Canadians are encouraged to drop off slightly used closed at Moore store locations across Canada.

According to fashionmag.com, clothing collected will be distributed to over 60 local recipient organizations across the country. Over the past six years, the Canadian Suit Drive has collected more than 250,000 items of clothing.
