NYFW Beauty Fall 2015: The 20s Are Back

While pretty and neutral are always nice and currently on trend, there’s something, well, glamorous about a bright lip and bold lashes. These modern takes on ’20s style are sure to inspire a vampy new look for fall; Fashion Reverie guarantees it.

For Marchesa’s fall 2015 show, makeup artist Gucci Westman took inspiration from the Great Gatsby era. “I wanted to create a more youthful interpretation appearing as though she had been dancing all night,” Westman explains. “Sort of a tousled Great Gatsby sexy girl who’s having fun.”

Using Revlon products, Westman created super luminous skin with Revlon’s PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator in “Bare Lights” on the bridge of the nose and cheeks, as well as the tear ducts. On the eyelids she used Revlon’s Illuminance Crème Shadows in “Not Just Nudes” on the top and bottom, layering it with Revlon’s PhotoReady Eye Art in “Burnished Bling,” a chocolate shadow. The eyes are finished with a gloss for a 1930’s greasy look just before the models hit the runway. For a sultry pout, Westman lines the lips with Revlon Lip Liner in “Raisin” and then Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick in “Black Cherry” for an almost “rusty lip” that’s still pretty and soft around the edges.

To enhance the makeup and a 1920’s flapper aesthetic, Antonio Corral Calero for Moroccanoil created fantastic faux bobs. To get the look, Calero starts with damp hair to which he applies a cocktail of Moroccanoil Treatment and Volumizing Mousse from root-to-tip. He also adds a little Moroccanoil Root Boost to ensure a little lift. Next, he creates a deep left side part that starts directly above the arch of the brow and continues to the crown of the head on a slightly rounded angle.  Calero then curls the hair using a three quarters curling iron barrel on sections of hair starting from the nape of the neck. At the sides and top of the head he wraps half-inch sections of hair forwards (towards the face) around the curling iron. “This change in motion will allow the hair to fall into a ’20s finger curl wave pattern.” Calero allows the hair to cool before brushing out the curls into soft shiny waves. To get the bob, he then pulls the hair at the back of the head into a low, loose ponytail and secures it with a clear elastic. Next, he rolls the pony under, making sure to tuck in all of the hair and secures it to the nape of the neck with bobby pins.  Lastly, Calero uses his fingers and comb to roll the hair at the sides back and under, securing into the bob at the back and then loosens up the waves with his fingers for an “undone, natural look.”  He finishes the girls off with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray and Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine.

Alice + Olivia’s Stacy Bendet also wanted a little va va voom to complement her rich fabrics and turned to Stila’s Sarah Lucero. She created her “Swinging Starlet” look combining the roaring ’20s with a ’70s feel. Using Stila’s Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm and Stila’s Illuminating Powder Foundation, Lucero created the perfect canvas. For those sultry eyes, she used two types of mascara—Stila’s Major MAJOR Lash Mascara and Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing Mascara. Stila’s Lip and Cheek Stain in “Acai Crush” was then applied for the perfect berry lips. “By erasing the extended cat eye, we have modernized and added an edge to the classic Biba-inspired Art Deco Look. The It eye for the It Girl,” Lucero shares.

Elegant and a tad flirty, this retro style is sure to draw a lot of attention! So add a touch of the roaring ’20s at your next outing, just make sure to avoid the fringe and headband or you’ll look as if you’re headed to a costume party!

NYFW Fall 2015 Beauty: CND’s Crazy, Amazing Nails

Images courtesy of CND

Images courtesy of CND

While nude seems to be the main manicure trend at New York Fashion Week, we can always count on our friends at Creative Nail Design (CND) for some amazing (and over-the-top) wearable nail art. This season Jan Arnold and the team really out did themselves.

At The Blonds, the story (and nail art) starts out bright and shining and then turns post-apocalyptic with miniature replicas of transformers and generals’ badges. No matter if you’re into the dark or the light side, these nails are worth checking out!

Images courtesy of CND

Images courtesy of CND

The nails mimic the show, which designers, David and Phillipe, poetically describe in their program. “The Blonds began in a fairytale and we came to life, but is this life reality? No. It is a SHOW! Zoom Back camera! We are images, dreams, photographs.  We must not stay here prisoners!! We shall break the illusion. This is magic! A BLOND REVOLUTION!”

The fairytale–style nails, made of lace and encrusted with Swarovski crystals, are like a “jewel box exploding.” “You can see the angst though, before the bomb goes off,” Arnold excitedly points out.

One of Jan’s favorites from designs from the beginning half of the show is a white leather corset nail. “It’s actually [based off of] a real corset on the runway. We took a white leather corset and kinda ripped it apart and tied it back together again. Then there’s tulle which will wrap around the finger, wrap around the wrist.”

Images courtesy of CND

Images courtesy of CND

After the revolution, the nails (like the clothes) take a darker turn. One set has a tiny cyanide pill buried in a clear tip wrapped in black leather; talk about really going above and beyond! Tiny military badges made of liquid and powder dangle from models’ manicures. There’s even a nail series full of shrapnel. Jan jokes about the popularity of the “shrapnel mani.”

Part of what makes CND’s nails so amazing isn’t just the time and effort (around 900 hours from concept to finish to create these 21 nail looks), but the fact that each piece is hand made and given such care. The nails are an intricate part of story The Blonds tell at their runway show and really pull the whole thing together. Beauty is supposed to be fun and CND certainly has a lot of fun with it!

When we asked Jan Arnold how she felt about this season she explained, “I think it was so fun, this season went a little darker, a little more severe and we love that.”

We love it too,  Jan!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2015 Undergoes a Studio 54–Style Makeover

Rebecca Minkoff fall 2015 beauty images courtesy of Stila

Rebecca Minkoff fall 2015 beauty images courtesy of Stila

The ’70s have been influencing the fall 2015 collections in a big way. Runways were filled with wide leg trousers and retro flare. The influence of the 1970s doesn’t stop at the clothes; it also translates to beauty.

Rebecca Minkoff‘s “Wide Eye Wanderlust” look created by Sarah Lucero for Stila gave us a little of that tough girl vibe. Inspired by that ‘70s downtown, East Village mixed with rock n’ roll—think of CBGBs in its heyday—; Rebecca Minkoff’s makeup look was a grungy version to that 70’s vibe. To get those Bohemian-inspired eyes, Lucero mixed different textures of eyeliners. She used a matte black rubbed in to give the appearance of a graphite black and then an inky black blotted separately between each lash “like a calligraphy ink splat, to mess it up but in a cool way.” Lucero recommends keeping the liner on the bottom for a wider eye effect and then lots of mascara on the top and bottom, “the clumpier the better.” She used Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in “Stingray” and Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eye Liner in “Black” for that smudgy effect, and then piled on Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing Mascara. Lucero gushes that it’s an easy look to recreate by just combining the different type of eyeliners.

Rebecca Minkoff fall 2015 beauty images courtesy of Stila

Rebecca Minkoff fall 2015 beauty images courtesy of Stila

Minkoff is very music inspired, so the look for her couldn’t be too pretty, but rather “confident and cool” for the rocker who really did just wake up like this. So to keep it from looking too perfect, if your liner wings out, square it off with a Q-tip for more of a blunt end. Another tip Lucero shared was using a flesh tone liner on the inside of the eye to remove any redness and again, help widen the look of the eyes.

Pamella Roland also referenced in the 1970s in her fall 2015 collection. She shared that she was inspired by “… the world of fashion in the 1970’s Paris as described in the book, “The Beautiful Fall.” “It was a glamorous world of designers, models, photographers and their creative conspirators that have become enduring style icons,” explains Roland. Wanting to stray from the classic Farrah Fawcett ‘do, Roland turned to Ted Gibson for a retro take on his classic Gibson Girl Blow Out.   The look features a bit of height in the back and tousled messy waves, which really helped Roland’s fall 2015 collection, come to life. To get the look, Gibson parted the hair down the middle, spraying it with volumizing spray for body and texture. The hair was then blown dry with a dual bristle round brush and backcombed at the crown for a subtle lift. To achieve the waves, Gibson used a one and a half inch curling iron and wrapped sections around the base of the iron, leaving out the ends.  He then brushed the hair with his fingers to loosen up the curls.

Incorporating the ’70s in to a jungle theme, Christian Siriano filled his runway with colorful printed gowns in eye-catching silhouettes. MAC Cosmetics’ Polly Osmond describes the aesthetic at Siriano as, “Tropical and animal prints with an earth-tones ’70s vibe.” Osmond made the skin warm and dewy before adding a “ready brow with a slight sheen to it.” Next, two of MAC’s Trend Forecast Fall ’15 Colors, “Grand Canyon,” and “Penny Arcade“ are mixed together and applied over the eyelid for color and texture. For a pop of color, Osmond applies a very bright yellow, “Chrome,” to the inner corner of the eyes. Upon seeing the look, “Christian exclaims, ‘oh she looks like a bird,’ but it’s not bird. It has a slightly kinda ’70s feel to it,’” Osmond explains.

So leave the polyester at home and prepare to step back in time and boogie the night away with these fresh new ’70s styles!

Beauty Tip: Blow It Out

From a young age, ladies have applied a lot of heat to their hair to get that seasons’ most coveted ‘do.  From crimping to curling to straightening, we’ve tried it all.  However, to get really beautiful hair, there’s one tool we’ve always used, and I’m sad to report … we’ve been using it wrong!

No matter if you want to play up your curls, or smooth out a wave, the only tool you really need is your blow dryer!  Organic hair specialist, Amanda Braydich explains how to really blow dry your hair and why “the cool button is not only an essential tool, but it is also the most understated forgotten tool in hair.”

AmandaBraydich_resize

Amanda Braydich image courtesy of thesalonsat.com

To really embrace your hair you need to learn some blowdrying techniques and know which products to use, explains Braydich.  “I talk to each person and I’ve come up with a product cocktail to either amp up the volume or smooth it down.  If a client is looking for smooth hair, it’s all about proper blowdrying.  A lot of people will pick up a dryer and just wave it around meaninglessly.”

Braydich shares how this is a missed opportunity to get the style you’re really after.  Blowdrying is really the time when you’re “instilling a foundation of control [over your hair].”  For example, if you want your hair to be really smooth with an angle toward your face, you want the dryer held above your head because you want the cuticle down and pull your hair towards your face.

But the biggest problem is after your hair is dry.  “Once you dry your hair, everyone makes that fatal mistake of thinking they are done.  Your hair is like steel you need to heat it up to mold it then cool it down to set it to make it last,” Braydich explains while stressing the importance of going over your hair once again with your dryer set to cool.  “I have older women who walk into my salon and think the cold button is only there for their hot flashes,” she shares.

What if you’re ready to ditch the flat iron in favor of your natural waves or curls?  Braydich recommends using a defuser, which will help you avoid frizz.  “With curls, to build the maximum amount of volume start at the root and get the air going up.  You want to get the root area dry to promote that volume.  It will create a lot of solid structure when starting at the root.  Then move out towards your longer lengths next,” she explains.   “If you dry the lengths first and don’t get the root first it really weighs down the hair,” Braydich warns.  “When the hair is half way dry, I add in the mousse, then go back to the roots and then the ends and heat it up at full blast.”

However, just because you’re wearing your hair curly doesn’t mean you should skip pushing the cool button. ” Going over everything again in the cool setting is what’s going to give you all gorgeous volume.”  According to Braydich that cool button is essential for lasting hair, which in today’s busy world, a hairstyle that can last all day is a beautiful thing!

Beauty Spotlight: Makeup Artist T. Cooper

T_Cooper_Image_07While models and celebrities would love to have us believe that “they just woke up like this,” those “effortless” looks actually take several hours at the hands of professionals.  From faking flawless skin to fuller hair, skilled hairstylists and makeup artists can do it all.

We spoke with T. Cooper, a talented makeup artist and hairstylist, who’s worked with Victoria’s Secret, Miss America Kira Kazantsev, Matt McGorry from “Orange is the New Black,” “How to Get Away with Murder,” Grammy Award winning–singer Chrisette Michele, Karen, Renee and Big Ang of “Mob Wives,” NBA star Baron Davis, True Religion, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Dominic Adams from “Devious Maids” to name a few.  Not to mention her work with Fashion Reverie!!

T. Cooper

T. Cooper

Fashion Reverie: How did you get interested in beauty?

T. Cooper: I used to be a tailor and worked on editorial sets a lot. They usually keep makeup, hair, and wardrobe very close together, so even though I was part of wardrobe I’d be super close to the makeup artists. One day while doing a tailoring job for Essence I met this amazing celebrity makeup artist, Lucky Smyler, who is pretty much a plastic surgeon with his brushes; and he really sparked my interest in makeup artistry. I befriended Lucky and I asked him tons of questions all the time. He was gracious enough to answer them all, and I began testing to build my book. Soon after working as a makeup artist I found that photographers and clients often asked, “Can you do hair too?” With so many clients wanting a combo, I decided to add hair to the repertoire and found that I really love doing hair, too.

I learned how to do hair and makeup from asking other artists questions, watching videos, reading books, testing with new photographers, and practicing on my homies. I really wanted to learn, so I immersed myself in it and made it my life.

Fashion Reverie: Who inspires you?

T. Cooper: My clients inspire me so much; I get very excited about trying to bring out their best features. I look at each one of them as a canvas and do my best to make them look and feel gorgeous.

T_Cooper_ImagesFashion Reverie: Any beauty trends right now that you don’t like?

T. Cooper: As far as makeup goes, I can’t take seeing one more girl in drag queen lashes. I’m all for wearing false lashes, but I can’t stand super thick, super long drag queen–looking lashes. Ewww!

With hairstyles, I can’t take another fishtail braid. I think fishtails are quite beautiful but they’ve been overdone for the past few years, and I’d like to see them go far away.

Fashion Reverie: Do you have any beauty tricks?

T. Cooper:  My favorite trick is definitely using a smudger brush to apply eyeliner.  I rub the eyeliner pencil on the brush and use the brush to create the line. It gives such a subtle line that’s not too sharp or harsh and it takes away the need to be so precise. I love the E21 smudger brush by Sigma, it’s nice and small, so you can get in the corners of the eye and really close to the lash line.

Collages556Fashion Reverie: Are you DIY kind of girl; any beauty recipes that you swear by?

T. Cooper: I use Jamaican Black castor oil on my face and in my hair. My parents are from Jamaica so that was passed down to me from my mom. There is no mixing or heating up necessary so it’s ready to go right outside of the bottle.  I use it as an eye cream and moisturizing and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes.  I also use it to deep condition and moisturize my naturally dry hair; it does wonders.

Fashion Reverie: What would be your one” can’t live without” beauty item?

T. Cooper: Lip gloss, I can’t live without the stuff. I’m an anomaly because I’m a makeup artist who likes to go barefaced 99% of the time, but I’ve always got on my lip gloss. I wear Le Gloss by L’Oreal in the color Really Rose; it’s a gorgeous rose pink color.

Images courtesy of T. Cooper

Fashion Reverie: Any other tips you’d like to share with our readers?

T. Cooper:  I’ve got a great tip for those days when you just look and feel tired. For bright, rested eyes, use the Complexion Fix pen by Veil Cosmetics, it’s literally sleep in a pen. For best results use a damp sponge to blend it out and then loose powder to set it—it’s amazing!

Bridal Beauty Style: Say Yes to More than the Dress

Image courtesy of Presley Ann Slack/fashionreverie.com

As any bride will tell you, one of the most important parts of preparing for your big day is the dress.  It has to fit you amazingly and just be perfect.  Fashion Reverie spoke with Randy Fenoli from TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” about finding that perfect gown and beauty look to match.  “I think bridal trends are going everywhere!” explains Fenoli.  “The number one trend in bridal is diversity, if you cannot find it out there, then you’re not looking hard enough; there’s bohemian, there’s sexy, there’s traditional, there’s any look that you want.”

Images courtesy of Randy Fenoli

Images courtesy of Randy Fenoli

Fenoli, who is considered a wedding dress expert, first was drawn to evening wear, but after realizing that there isn’t a lot of non- red carpet evening wear being worn he took to bridal. “… A bridal gown is the single most important garment a woman will ever wear, unless she’s going to the Academy Awards and winning the Academy Award, but other than that it’s her moment to really say ‘I’m a women, I’m getting married, I’m walking down the aisle towards the man I love more than anyone on the planet’ and she wants to look beautiful, so I think the dress is really important.”

But the journey isn’t over once you find the dress of your dreams. It’s important to find the perfect balance between your dress’ accents, your accessories and your beauty style.  We spoke with the team backstage at Ines Di Santo about not interrupting the gorgeous back view of a dress with long tresses; however, at Marchesa, wildly flowing locks added a bit of dimension to the breathtaking couture gowns.

“I always look at the gowns first,” shares Italo Gregorio, lead hairstylist at Ines Di Santo. Ines Di Santo’s daughter and partner, Veronica explained more about the collection.  “This collection was very much inspired by art deco, it’s a very strong current in the collection and it continues to be over time. You’re going to see some emphasis on geometric lines and more structured beaded concepts.”  With all the gorgeous illusion-backs Veronica and Ines trusted Gregorio to enhance their collection with a pretty up-do. “I didn’t want to make much of a statement with the hair, I wanted it to look a little un-done … there’s a freshness to it,” confided Gregorio.

Frances Hathaway created a court of Louis XVI “modern Marie Antoinette” face for Di Santo’s collection.  “To encapsulate the feeling of a modern take on Marie Antoinette, I’m using pastel shades in lilac and mint green with an overlay of gold iridescent powder.  We have beautiful cheeks in berries and pinks; then a stained lip, again done in a very painterly way. It certainly does not follow the lip line but is concentrated as far as color and density in the center of the lip.”   “The colors are very bridal, they’re gorgeous.  They’re light and airy and the way I applied it was very fashion forward.  But, in real-life you’d just blend it more.  I’m doing it for a show, so when the girls pass by you’ll have that impact,” Hathaway shares … “If you want to copy this look you can use the same color palette, but make sure to blend the edges so it’s not so “runway.”

Marchesa fall 2015 Beauty Image courtesy of Ernest Green/fashionreverie.com

Akemi Tamaribuchi, lead stylist at Marchesa, also stresses the importance of basing the rest of your look on your gown.  “It’s Marchesa, it’s beautiful, it’s detailed, it’s got appliqués, so we wanted to blend some of that thinking into the hair,” explains Tamaribuchi.  “We’re prepping the hair with Kérastase Mousse Bouffante which is an all-time important base for any kind of bridal work.  It’s really flexible; it works great on every kind of hair.  Then we’re generously applying Kérastase VIP texture spray.  It’s our new secret weapon. Then we’re using a really subtle curling iron technique. We’re just taking long lean vertical sections and wrapping the hair around the iron in a figure eight pattern leaving out the ends, which gives this really sort of imperfect wave. Girls want to be more contemporary and this technique gives a more casual quality to the wave.”  After creating the wave, Tamaribuchi creates a small chain link in four to six places around the head.  “We’re placing that just above the ear and below the occipital bone, which gives us this sort of detail of support similar to the appliqués on the gowns.  It’s a really smart, super effective way to get some volume and dimension in the overall shape.”

The free flowing hair was paired with makeup artist Kimberly Soane’s face.  “The designers wanted to create a bride that was fresh, with a bit of a modern runway twist. We did flawless skin with a pink flush on the cheek, a wash of pink on the lip with a creamy matte finish, full naturally shaped brows, not overly defined and the eyes you’re seeing shades of a grey, heather, taupe tones and the definition is tight, lined with lots of mascara.”

To add a little something extra for the runway, Soane added a high shine gloss finish on the eyelids.  “So that’s where you’re going to get this really cool effect because the rest of the skin is matte or creamy finish and then you’re going to get this high wet shine on the eyelids which is so unique. ” explains Soane.

With so many options on the runway, you can’t go wrong.  Choose a ball gown, a short sassy dress, a long lace number with sleeves or even a pant suit like Naeem Khan presented.  However, keep in mind that any look can be made or broken in the details.  Your accessories, hair, and makeup, are probably the most overlooked, but should be considered just as important.  They need to complement the dress and more importantly you!!

Bridal Fall 2015 Hair Trends

New York International Bridal Week isn’t just a great place to ogle gorgeous white gowns; it’s also the ideal place to gather beauty inspiration.  After watching hundreds of dresses parade down the runway and speaking with dozens of makeup artists, hairstylists, designers, and wedding experts, Fashion Reverie has rounded up some of the key beauty trends and surprisingly they’re all very simple!

This season minimalism ruled the runway.  “Bridal is always one of those things, you can go back to the classics but we’re definitely seeing for the eyes, cool tones, heather tones and more matte powder finishes.  We’re not seeing the sparkle in the bridal; soft definition and full brows. So for every bride-to-be don’t over pluck your brows, get them professionally done and take good care of your skin,” shares Kimberly Soane for Bobbi Brown.

Natural, however, doesn’t mean void of all color, Jenny Smith for Nars explains, “We’re definitely still seeing the lip [as a focus] and in any shade.  I think that is always a signature way to go.  If you do a color that’s more red, plum, berry, or even pink, it makes your teeth look whiter, which is always a good thing in pictures.”

Keep it simple

While we all love an Oscar-worthy detailed up-do, a sleek ponytail or a soft bun on the nape of the neck makes an eye-opening statement.  Jay Ree, lead stylist backstage at Dennis Basso’s bridal collection for Kleinfelds, stresses the importance of simplicity.  “A nice low sleek bun [is ideal]; very simple.  Some braids have been incorporated into bridal this season too, but not too many.”   “Nothing over the top, just keep it neat and don’t go crazy with hair; nothing too big,” Ree warns.

Some of the top designers complemented their jaw-dropping gowns with uncomplicated hairstyles.  At Carolina Herrera’s show, models sported a sleek twisted bun (with a few untraditional accents, but you could easily add a veil for a fresh easy take on bridal), Monique Lhulllier opted for an easy knotted chignon with a center part and Dennis Basso made us fall in love again with the high fashion ponytail.

Be true to you

Ree, recommends keeping your hair off of your face.  “You shouldn’t have your hair down and just loosely flowing around unless you’re getting married at the beach.  It has to be off your face or you’ve got to have it up.”  Ree follows up his strong statement with one big exception. “If you don’t ever wear your hair up, then I do not recommend wearing it up on your wedding day … You’ll look at these photos 20 years later [with regret].” It still needs to look like you, just the best possible version of you.

Naeem Khan wanted to create a strong, more natural look, with the help of lead stylist Jae Manuel Cardenas.  Cardenas explains the soft wave, “We really wanted to have that look of a beautiful, natural, strong woman with a center part going into a big day. Think Jean Shrimpton old-school.  It’s such an iconic look too.”  “A lot of designers are continuing to do the hair up, I do, however, find that a lot of brides in real-life are wearing their hair down a lot more … They just want to look like a better representation of what they look like on a daily basis.  You don’t want to go in on your big day looking like somebody else,” shares Cardenas.

Your wedding isn’t the time to try out a completely new persona.  It’s also important to make sure the entire look makes sense.  “For me, it’s all about making sure that the hair, the jewelry, the makeup, the dress, all the way down to the shoes; that all the accessories and everything really tell a story.  Because that’s what I think you’re doing at a wedding, you’re telling a story about you and your fiancé.” explains Randy Fenoli of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress”  “What are you favorite colors, what are your favorite foods, what are your ethnicities, where do you like to shop, where do you like to vacation, everything that you like to do as a couple I think really should come together and that is what’s going to make your wedding unique and that’s what brides want today.  Every single bride I speak to says I want my wedding to be different from everyone else’s wedding.  If you want it to be different, just follow your story and be true to who you are and it will be, because there’s no one like you.”

Change your Beauty for Fall

When the nights get cooler, the leaves begin to change color and pumpkin spice is on every menu, it can only mean one thing; it’s Fall!  Autumn brings with it crisp air and a chance to change up not just your wardrobe but also your beauty routine.  With rich chocolates, soft neutrals, and deeper jewel tones, there are so many options for your autumnal look.

Let the Eyes Have It

A great jewel tone is the perfect way to add a little color going into fall.

Finish the look off with Stila’s new Mile High Lashes, which gives you longer, darker lashes with each swipe of the mascara wand.  Unlike other mascaras, which you really need to pile on before noticing a difference, you’ll be astounded by the extra drama you get with your first coat of Mile High Lashes.  The formula that is infused with “plumping plant extracts and emollients” maximizes volume and curl in one step!

Try a Finishing Mist

The cool fall wind might be a welcome change, but it can be brutal on your skin.

The cold dry air tends to dry out your skin and can make it irritable so it’s important to take extra care of your complexion as soon as the seasons change.

While the idea of a mist might leave you a little skeptical, it’s a great beauty buy.  MAC’s Prep + Prime Fix + is a versatile product.  Not only will your skin feel hydrated and refreshed, but it will also help set your makeup, so it last longer.  The lightweight formula absorbs quickly and feels so delightfully smooth.

Change Up Your Scent

There’s something that feels so luxurious about fall. Maybe it’s the textiles—suede, leather, cashmere.   Or perhaps those rich colors of fall …  or maybe it’s simply the fact that the weather has cooled down and we get to say goodbye to our makeup melting and hair frizzing!  Either way autumn is a great time to feel like a million bucks and what better way to say opulence then Fendi?

Fendi’s new Fan di FENDI Blossom fragrance is a light delicate perfume, a surprisingly perfect contrast to the crisp weather of fall.  It opens up with a fruity blend of Japanese Nashi Pear and succulent raspberries.  However, the focus of the fragrance is the beautiful Sakura Cherry Blossom, which come spring, bloom all over Washington, DC.  However, you don’t need to wait till it begins to warm up again to wear this soft romantic scent.  The fruity and floral combination is sure to leave an impression and it will help you celebrate the grandeur of fall.
