Since that time, Chanel has married, and has had a child. 2024 Met Gala Dippity Don’ts

Over the past few days there has been a lot of buzz around the great looks at the 2024 Met Gala. And while there were some outstanding red-carpet looks—Sarah Jessica Parker, Zendaya, Usher, Gigi Hadid, and others—there were just as many, if not more, red-carpets that made you wince and think, “this is not working.”

On the heels of red-carpet looks from the 2024 Met Gala that excited pulses and conjured images of whimsy and fantasy, Fashion Reverie has assembled some looks that caused consternation and confusion. Though were some real dippity don’ts and failures in this roundup, these hits and misses did not diminish those celebs who brought it.

Cardi B

Cardi B makes everyone stand up and notice on red carpets. Whether you like what she’s wearing and not, Cardi B causes pulses to quicken.

At the 2024 Met Gala, Cardi B wore a black Windowsen gown with a tall black turban. This gown had to manipulated by ten men to get Cardi B from here to there on the red carpet. This ensemble didn’t reflect the Met Gala theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” neither was it flattering for Cardi B. In retrospect, it was an attention-getting attempt by Cardi B with no real value. The look just looked out of place.

Michelle Yeoh

Though a few celebrities sported this head-to-toe metallic look, on Yeoh this Balenciaga silver gown looked like a crinkly silver runner’s Mylar blanket. Better luck next time!!

Lizzo

We all know that Lizzo is not afraid to push the envelope. That said, in this red-carpet concoction, Lizzo’s avant-garde still did not fit the bill. This very unflattering Weinsanto floral gown with upside down corset headdress was a huge miss. Well, it was floral!!

Zoe Saldana

Zoe did not get the Met Gala theme memo!! This brown Chloe dress with brown boots was confusing. This is not a Texas rodeo!!

Dua Lipa

What can be said of this look. Talk about a dippity don’t. this is!! In this Marc Jacobs ensemble, Dua is conjuring Cher at the Oscars in the 1980s in a Bob Mackie ensemble. Wrong, wrong, wrong!!

Gwendoline Christie

Is Gwendoline conjuring up a bad version of Tilda Swinton? Well, if she is, it’s not working!! In this off Met Gala theme Martin Margiela ensemble, Gwendoline Christie demonstrates that great style is not one of her strong points.

Doja Cat

Doja, Fashion Reverie loves the risk-taking Vetements garment to someone else, this is not a wet tee shirt contest. Leave the “I am not afraid to do want I want” at home and wear something that truly highlights your beautiful face and figure. Don’t waste the moment!!

Jeremy Pope

Fashion Reverie never leaves the men behind, even for a worst-dressed roundup. Jeremy Pope, we know you are trying hard in a Tanner Fletcher pin-striped suit ensemble with lingerie outerwear, but it aint working.

Every fashionista’s attention has shifted to California for the past two weekends as the 2024 Coachella festival kicked off. Always known for its bohemian fashion and unique looks, Coachella 2024 didn’t disappoint. Although not the same as the original style, the messy buns and flower crowns seem to have drifted away with everyone’s adoration of the Boomerang filter on Instagram. This grungy, hippy-dippy look has been replaced with something more commercialized. A richer, more decadent style that captures the attention of social media.

Both on and off the stage fantastic fashion was found. From Sabrina Carpenter wearing the late Roberto Cavalli, Ice Spice in a full lace bodysuit, and Taylor Swift’s casual look in the crowd, many festival fashion inspirations can be harvested from this two-weekend concert.
