New York Fashion Week: The Shows (NYFWS) spring 2020 season is just a few days away. Fashion designers will showcase their spring/summer 2020 collections, with a few designers applying the see-now-buy-now business model. Fashion Reverie has curated a few hot trends that are expected to be seen in the spring 2020 collections.

For a moment it seemed like denim had fallen to the wayside as it was sidelined to athleisure materials and jersey fabrics. However, denim is back and bigger than ever, and Fashion Reverie expects denim to be incorporated into spring 2020 collections via jackets, dresses, embroidered jeans, and even shoes. Designers, like Proenza Schouler, are known to be big fans of denim, so let’s see what they have up their sleeves this season.

Baggy Pants

Baggy pants are trending this season, appealing to those who love a good drop crotch. Leave your legs some room to breathe next spring. Many popular streetwear brands, who have capitalized on this trend, are expected to incorporate this returning trend for spring 2020.

Polka Dots

Polka dots are back this season as a popular pattern, all thanks to celebrities donning polka dots from the red carpet to the front rows of Paris Couture Week. Self-Portrait, who is always heavy on the patterns, will probably have quite a few polka dot sun dresses for spring 2020.

Mini Purses

The tiny purse trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere as consumers are obsessed with having a purse for their purse. Jacquemus’ bags have proven to be the most popular so far, but like most things French, French fashion usually trickles down to the American market. If you need a bag to hold your candy and your cell phone, your can have your pick of mini bags.

Off-White Clothing

No, not Virgil Abloh’s signature clothing line, but, rather the shade off-white. Off-white, or bleached coral, has been named Pantone’s color of the year for 2020. Though you might not want to wear white after Labor Day, you certainly flaunt off-white for spring 2020.

Spring Feathers

Feathers for spring? Hmm, “groundbreaking,” as Miranda Priestly from “The Devil Wears Prada” would say. Feather details have proved to be popular among top fashion brands as of late. What better way to make a statement than a little plumage. Ever since this year’s Met Gala, everyone has been looking to get a bit campier. Marc Jacobs is known to be a fan of feathers, maybe Jacobs will produce a full-feathered gown for NYFWS spring 2020 season. Hope springs eternal!!
