Editors’ Pick: Ines de la Fressange x Uniqlo Fall 2019 Collection

If you are not familiar with Ines de la Fressange, then you should!! With the passing of Karl Lagerfeld, it is important that we examine his legacy and the many fashion industry professionals that collaborated with Lagerfeld and were influenced by his creative genius.

Ines de la Fressange was one such industry professional. As a model, Fressange served as a muse for Lagerfeld and was the first model to have an exclusive contract with any fashion house, as she had that with Chanel under Lagerfeld’s auspice.

But, Ines de la Fressange’s career did not just flourish under Lagerfeld. Fressange has been a French style icon for decades and a notable fashion designer, starting her eponymous brand in 1991 alongside her own boutique.

For fall 2019, Ines de la Fressange partners again with Uniqlo for their “Luxurious Clothes and Beyond” collection. This collection epitomizes Fressange’s belief that clothes should be comfortable and reveal a women’s beauty.

This collaborative collection is inspired by Megève, a popular French ski resort and the location of the Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant film, “Charade.” There are also design references to 1970s outerwear.

The outerwear focus is on more relaxing fits, notably through a long coat reflecting contemporary tastes and an oversized down parka that is reminiscent of 1970s sportswear. The masculine tailoring of jackets broadens their enjoyment with everything from traditional tweed to casual corduroy items. Chunky and nostalgic argyle-patterned knits add flair to coordination.

Chic black appears for the first time this season, expanding coordination alternatives with Ines’ basic color navy blue. The color scheme of the collection also reflects Ines’ love of hues that brighten cold days, incorporating warm ambers and a sharp winter white.

Ines de la Fressange x Uniqlo Fall 2019 collection retails from $14.90 to $99.90 and will be available in a full run of women’s and kids sizing. The collection launches on August 29.
