Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of December 31, 2018

Fashion Reverie’s Celebrity Fashion Sightings is back after a holiday hiatus. This week’s celebrity fashion sightings are all about the 72 Annual Golden Globes Awards. As the first premier event of the 2019 Award season, the Golden Globes begins to set the standard for the fashion trends we will see all year, particularly when it comes to celebrity fashion.

There was a lot of great fashion at the 2019 Golden Globes; however, there was some fashion that wasn’t so good. Fashion Reverie was front and center bringing it viewers all the great, and not so great fashion.

It is about time that Regina King is awarded for all the great work she has done over the decades in front and behind the camera. Winning Best Supporting Actress for “If Beale Street Could Talk” is only the first award of many to come for King’s outstanding performance.

King also slayed on the red carpet in a rose gold Alberta Ferretti dress. King demonstrated that a woman of a certain age, almost 48, can be appropriately sexy and sophisticated. Bravo Regina!!

Speaking of seasoned actresses that are still turning out on the red carpet, Jamie Lee Curtis stunned at the 2019 Golden Globes in a white Alexander McQueen gown with silver sequined accents. The silver hair was a fantastic touch that did not age Jamie Lee Curtis but facilitated her look as the grande dame of film.

Famed fashion designer Christian Siriano had his moment on the red carpet at the recent Golden Globes. Allison Janney was all that and a bag of chips in a seafoam blue Siriano full-length, off-the-shoulder-gown. Now, that is what 59 should look like!!

Lupita Nyong’o was deliciously seductive a blue bugle-beaded Calvin Klein dress. Lupita took several photos with the cast of “Black Panther,” all of which were brilliantly attired on the 2019 Golden Globe red carpet. “Black Panther” was nominated for best motion picture-drama.

FX’s “Pose” was nominated for several Golden Globes, and the cast of “Pose” really turned it out on the red carpet. “Pose’s” Indya Moore brought a certain kind of spice and sass to the Golden Globes in Anita Ko jewelry and Louis Vuitton silver, padded-shoulder cocktail dress that showed off her lovely legs.

Speaking of “Pose,” Billy Porter brought lots of drama and spin and twirl to the 2019 Golden Globes in a stupendous Randi Rahm embellished suit with sweeping embellished cape to match. Now, that is posing on the runway!!

Though many fans were disappointed that Lady Gaga did not win a Golden Globe for her performance in “A Star Is Born,” Gaga’s appearance on the red carpet did not disappoint. Lady Gaga was beautifully attired in powder blue voluminous Valentino gown.

Nicole Kidman always stuns on red carpet. And this red-carpet appearance was not exception, stunning in a burgundy, sequined Michael Kors sheath dress. Kidman was nominated for 2019 Golden Globes for her appearance in “Boy Erased.” This was her sixth nomination.

Charlize Theron nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy in “Tully” was all chicness and sophistication in a black and white Dior gown with black tie at the neck.

Virgil Abloh, creative director Louis Vuitton menswear, was really embraced by many celebrities at the 2019 Golden Globes. Timothee Chalamet, nominated for a Golden Globe for his work in “Beautiful Boy” expanded the idea of what men should wear on the red carpet by wearing an innovative black sequined Louis Vuitton ensemble.—Staff
