Editors’ Pick: Maison Alexandrine Pret-A-Couture Spring 2019 Collection

Fashion begins when there is a desire for change. Brazilian couture designer, Alexandra Fructuoso, brings to life a collection that works in tangent with architecture and, decoration. With an unconventional approach, Alexandrine translates her youthful aesthetic into a luxurious form that challenges the ideal of sensuality.

Maison Alexandrine Pret A Couture spring 2019 collection lives up to its name, daring women to “become better, more self-confident, and more beautiful,” Fructuoso told Harper’s Bazaar. From the world of art and design, Fructuoso shares the most wonderful view of Brazil through fashion. As the first luxury fashion brand crafted in São Paulo, Maison Alexandrine creatively expresses Brazilian culture through the brand’s fashion collections by designing a timeless and jaw-dropping evening wear collection.

Inspired by the infamous Madame de Pompadour as quoted on the Maison Alexandrine website, “fought for the art and ideals of many artists and philosophers.” Fructuoso wishes to create a unique experience that helps bring women to the forefront. “Alexandra believes that while at times a culture doesn’t create opportunities for women, it is also the women themselves that need to foster their own opportunities,” Harper’s Bazaar.

Reminiscing on years of her love of art exhibits and museums, Fructuoso’s custom creations, according to Harper’s Bazaar, “incorporate intricate stonework, geometric designs, intimate lace, feathers, and beautifully embroidered sleeves.” Maison Alexandrine embodies the edgy side of fashion through the brand’s attention to detail, utilization of historical figures, deco-inspired prints, and haute couture perspective. The color palette relates back to the bold colors of the Studio 54 era, with lots of rich black, white and bold sparkling sequin embellishments. The beautiful colors of marigold, teal, and deeps reds of Brazil are apparent and front and center in this collection. No stranger to plunging necklines, sexy catsuits or the mix of fabrics, Fructuoso avante-garde and cocktail attire merges the beauty of art and design. For the spring 2019 collection, Fructuoso’s powerful women are sure to capture the world’s attention, creating an opportunity for women to fully embrace their abilities and reveal themselves to the world without hesitation or judgment.
