Met Gala 2018 Best Dressed Recap

Zendaya, Diane Krueger, and Jared Leto

The trinity of fame, fashion, and faith was on full display at Monday night’s Met Gala where this year’s theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. Celebrity attendees seemingly took a strong liking to the theme and showed up, and showed out, in supreme splendor. The red carpet was resplendent in religious regalia and ornamentation, and we have the recap of the stairway to fashion’s biggest night.

Jennifer Lopez, Ruby Rose, Marjorie Harvey, and Trevor Noah

IconographyBeing that it was a Catholic-themed event, of course we’d expect to see guests include crosses in their outfits. The Church’s most iconic symbol was on full display proudly commanding attention.

Rita Ora, Kate Bosworth, Olivia Munn, and Mindy Kaling

Crowns, Veils and HeadpiecesOpulent headgear seemed to be the strongest subtheme on the red carpet. Whether donning crowns and tiaras to project authority or donning veils in traditional reverence of modesty, headdress ruled and created some of the best beauty shots ever.

Scenery as FashionWhy simply get dressed to look as if you are going to church? Some on the guest list took their wardrobe to the next level, incorporating actual pieces of the church into their attire.

Ariana Grande wore a Vera Wang gown decorated with the scene of the Last Supper from the Sistene Chapel.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda and Jennifer Fisher jewelry, worn a dramatic headpiece of a scaled down Nativity scene from an Italian altar.

Gigi Hadid dressed in an Atelier Versace, made to look like stained glass, accompanied by Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Stella Maxwell wore a Moschino dress, with reliefs of the Virgin Mary, with Casadei shoes, and David Yurman jewelry.

Rihanna, Zendaya, Cardi B, Jared Leto, and Katy Perry
