What is the most important item in your wardrobe? Is it that distinctive black dress that eludes sophistication and elegance; that great summer jumpsuit that demonstrates your youthful charm and exuberance and is so comfortable and versatile that you can easily dress it up or down, or that hip bag that goes with almost anything.
Hmm, all those wardrobe items are great, but if you are like most women, your most prized possessions are your shoes!! Shoes not only show off your legs, they also express your mood and fashion sense. And like most garments shoes historically denote trends, styles, culture, and even political movements. (Think the Mary Janes of the mod 60s, platforms of the 70s, and studded combat boots of the punk 80s.)
British shoe designer Camilla Elphick has tapped into a cultural landmark and historic occasion by introducing the latest addition to her infamous Pez collection for the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday — her spring 2016 patriotic nod to the queen, The Corgi Princess PEZ. Though Queen Elizabeth actually turned 90 on April 21, this weekend marks the three-day celebration of this historic event. (Queen Elizabeth celebrates her birthday twice a year; once on the exact date and the other day in early June.
Though Camilla Elphick’s shoe line has only been around for three seasons, in a short amount of time she has received praise globally from fashion editors with such celebrities as Alexa Chung, Leandra Medine, Ella Eyre, Ellie Bamber, Amber Le Bon, Leaf Greener and Dree Hemingway wearing her shoes. And her infamous ‘Pez’ collection, based off of the Pez candy dispensers has gained Elphick worldwide attention.
Elphick’s spring 2016 collection ‘ Going Places’ was inspired by recent travels. From sandals laden with tropical fruit for summers in St Tropez to platforms destined for late nights in Vegas, Camilla’s jetset club will take you around the world in style. There are new PEZ characters too, such as Princess Corgi and New Yorker, each inspired by world fashion capitals.
Designed especially to mark the Queen Elizabeth’s many birthday occasions and celebrations, the Princess Corgi Pez is available to buy now, very timely with the state celebrations for the Queen this weekend. Fashionistas queue up!!
