New York Fashion Week Editors’ Essentials Fall 2019

This season since New York Fashion Week: Men’s and New York Fashion Week: The Shows follow right after each other with no break in between, Fashion Reverie has decided to combine our editors’ essentials for the fall 2019 fashion week season. Though many in the fashion industry contend that there is currently very little need for fashion editors—one very important fashion mover and shaker at a recent industry panel discussion projected that fashion editors’ usefulness had gone out of fashion because no one reads runway reviews anymore—editors’ expertise about all things fashion goes without question.

Below you will Fashion Reverie’s editors’ essentials roundup of things that will get you through this very busy two weeks. Remember, instead the traditional eight days of hustling and bustling, it now 11 days!!

Fashion Week can be very hard on your feet. As you shuffle from one fashion show to the next, your feet can take a real beating. Legendary Apothecary has developed a wonderful tincture ($35) that can leave the feet smooth, soft and hydrated. USDA–approved, 100 percent organic and clean, cruelty-free and environmentally friendly. Simple ingredients include vegetable glycerin, pure lavender oil and grain alcohol (which does not dry out the skin).

Inspired by a century-old family fable, Legendary Apothecary combines the desire to spread KINDness with a deep belief in the power of plant-based ingredients to create skincare products that are pure, organic & cruelty-free. Legendary Apothecary donates 10% of its proceeds toward like-minded charities.

We all know that it is essential that you are camera ready during NYFW. Who doesn’t want to be bright-eyed and bushy tailed during this hectic week?

Hyaluronic Acid does wonders for the skin although most times it comes in a syringe. So, a little short-term plumping comes with a little bit of pain. But now you can get your HA AND COLLAGEN fix without injections with Fillerinas new product additions with some of the strongest, most effective formulas you can get without a doctor’s assist.

Fillerina is a topical wonder product filled with hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin and other skin loving ingredients that plump up your skin. There’s a New Fillerina product with the “932” formula for the Lips and Mouth, Eyes and Eyelids and Face.

Fillerina works over a period of weeks to plump and rebuild the skin’s collagen giving long lasting results. Whether you are looking for fuller lips, to fill in the hollowness under the eyes or simply to plump and hydrate your face, Fillerina is the injection-free way to get amazing results in the privacy of your own home.

Speaking of your skin, the winter weather can be tough on your skin. NYFW is now situated between 3 or 4 venues, and believe battling the harsh wind as you cross the Westside Highway to Pier 59 and leave you out in the cold, literally.

Mini Glow Boost Essence Serum ($12.99/15ML)—the travel-sized version of Lumene‘s super concentrated, miracle-boosting serum. Containing a unique new Nordic-C radiance enhancing and energizing technology with berry extract from antioxidant-rich Wild Arctic Cloudberry and Vitamin C, along with Pure Arctic Spring Water and two types of Hyaluronic Acid, the hydrating formula works to promote the appearance of more youthful-looking skin that feels plumper, smoother and looks more radiant. Available at Target and

This industry concentrates so much on what female consumers want, but wait a minute, there are male consumers, and more importantly male fashion editors.

Every male editor wants their hair to look great during NYFW. And Fashion Reverie has the solution for you, especially if those hair follicles haven’t died. THICK HEAD helps to fight DHT (the leading cause of hair loss) with specially developed ingredients also proven to help regrow your hair. Be confident! THICK HEAD is manufactured in an FDA Approved facility and contains no harmful drugs.

Once you start, keep an eye out for a major side effect: Thick and healthy hair. THICK HEAD’s Regrowth Systems focus on fighting the most common causes of hair loss (androgens, inflammation, and nutritional deficiencies). Take off your hat and bare your hair to the world.

Everyone knows that a good fashion editor needs a good bag. As you shuttle from show to show during NYFW, a great bag is essential to carry all of your press notes, party favors and the, now, fewer than ever, gift bag. Vince Camuto has a healthy mix of great bags that will suit all your needs during Fashion Week. And they are moderately priced!!

OK, you are at the end of your day and you really need to relax and distress. All those fashion shows have taken their toll. Fashion Reverie has the solution for you!!

Lifetherapy uses the power of scent, texture, and color, fused with extraordinary ingredients, to evoke positive experiences and emotions for the mind, the body and the spirit.

2019 Fashion Trends for a Changing, Diverse Market

There’s no denying that fashion is continuously evolving, but this year, the evolutions are set to take a much deeper turn. Forecasts reveal that the looks that will prevail in 2019 will no longer focus solely on the mainstream ideal of beauty. Instead, the spotlight will shift towards longstanding issues like functionality and female empowerment. The clothes will be more inclusive and diverse, too, as well as environmentally friendly. That said; there are a few of the fashion trends consumers should take note of this year.

Eco-Friendly Clothes

There’s also a good chance that faux leather will become more popular in 2019. Several top fashion designers have committed to no longer include leather or animal fur in their fashion collections, bowing to environmentally friendly garments. reports that Meghan Markle might have played a role in boosting the popularity of environmentally friendly clothes. This is especially significant because the newly minted Duchess of Sussex frequently incorporates ethical brands into her wardrobe. When Meghan Markle wore her Reformation sundress, it increased the number of visitors to the clothing company’s website, proving how vast and effective the “Markle Effect” is—with everything she wears selling out immediately. (Reformation is an affordable and sustainable clothing company that offers clothes made from eco-friendly materials, using sustainable methods.) Other celebrities who wear sustainable fashion include Emma Watson, Jessica Alba, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Fancy flats

While Halpern, Ashish, and David Koma had models in their recent runway shows walking in high heels and stilettos, Valentino, Simone Rocha, and Temperley London had models walking in more reasonable shoes. predicts that the days of wobbly heels, along with shoes that give anyone who wears them blisters, will become a thing of the past. Practical options like sandals and high-heeled boots will come into the limelight. Designer thong-style slides will also make a fashionable return and will be especially prominent during the warmer months.

Plus-size fashion

It used to be that curvy women found it challenging to find clothes that would flatter their figure without compromising comfort and style. But in the last few years, things have taken a better turn as more commercial brands started producing collections for the plus-size market. This is a trend that can be seen at the retail site, which has a wide range of plus-size clothing from top brands including Ellos and Jessica London. This year, predicts plus-size clothing will become more daring, following the launch of Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Valentine’s collection. The fashion line features sexy lingerie, such as sheer-patterned bralettes and revealing bodysuits that are available for all body sizes. Body shaming, it seems, is fast becoming a thing of the past. Remember, 2019 is all about body acceptance.

Clothing labels for people with disabilities

According to 2017 data from, details how many Americans have a disability. A new survey indicates the number is higher than most people realize, more than one in eight Americans have a disability, which means roughly 40 million people in the US, have a severe impairment. Despite this number, only a handful of stores in the country produce inclusive and adaptive clothing. That said; this is changing with leading brands like Tommy Hilfiger, who launched clothing lines aimed at “balancing fashion with function and offering clothes that adapt to the wearer. ”Consumer trends analyst Stacy Bingle has also found that adaptive apparel is a growing market. “It’s part of an overall trend that we’re seeing, with consumers who have been underrepresented in the past are really getting a greater voice,” she said.

2019 will see more clothing labels adapting to the needs of individuals with disabilities. Timeless by Heather Hills is a great example, with collections that help women maintain a sense of style if they fall ill or become injured. “I think it’s really important for people that they don’t lose that sense of dignity, that sense of pride in themselves—and that they have the ability to wear something that makes them look and feel great,” explains co-founder Hayley Clarke.

Snuggly Winter Coat Trends

Photos courtesy of

Baby, it’s still cold outside, and you wouldn’t want to be caught dead without winter’s most important investment, coats. Although most retailers have started to markdown their winter inventory to make room for their spring arrivals, be sure to take advantage of on-sale winter garments. No fashionista will want to miss this haul as cold temperatures continue.Whether it’s functional or chic, it’s time to let outerwear do the talking as “layering reveals personal style,” states Dairia Harvin. From high street to high end, fashionistas have taken these laid-back cozy choices to new glam heights. These are Fashion Reverie’s comfiest trends for the season.

Kaleidoscope Faux FursThis season one of the biggest trends was faux fur. Bring a little technicolor into your wardrobe with these scaled primary tones. No longer hide behind the dull colors of fall/ winter, for these eye-catching cozy coats, add a luxurious style element to brighten your season.

“A big, cozy and warm fur coat can make your outfit look very stylish [especially when paired] with matching booties”, said Vanessa Salas, fashion blogger.

Classic Trench CoatsKnown for its chic practicality, trench coats have become the go-to trend for the past couple of seasons. However, this season’s best coat is full of new outlooks ranging from playful textures, cinched waistlines, oversized menswear-inspired lengths, and sculpted tailoring.

Sport-Infused Puffers This streetwear approved trend has received the stamp of approval from every streetwear queen: Kendall Jenner, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and many more. Chanel, Versace, and Fila reboot this ultra-cool ‘90s style with oversized branded logos, cropped silhouettes, and stylish color block designs.

Photos of Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, and Prada courtesy of

Animal Print ObsessionBack and better than ever, the revival of animal print on the runway goes beyond this retro kitty print. Although everyone might be obsessed with the return of leopard print, we noticed designers embracing snakeskin, zebra pattern, and even crocodile prints. These sophisticated animal prints have taken over as a fashion staple for this fall/winter season. There are endless options to pick from since this “Great Animal Print Revival” is this fall’s biggest print takeover trend.

Teddy Bear CoatsAs the number one must- have outerwear piece of the season, no one can deny the teddy jackets popularity. This 2019 winter, designers Christian Dior, Acne, Chloe, and of course most streetwear brands have brought your favorite childhood stuffed animal to fashion. Beyond the front row, this stylish fuzzy full-length coat is hard to resist. With every brand and retailer pushing these Instagram–worthy coats, one can expect tons of options—sherpa jackets, super soft faux fur, cropped bomber jackets, and fuzzy jackets.

Editors’ Pick: Missoni Spring 2019 Campaign

Gisele Bündchen may not be slaying on the runway anymore; however, that does not mean she has retired from fashion, in spite of having a wealthy, famous quarterback husband and two kids. (Gisele retired from runway shows in 2016.)

For its summer 2019 campaign, Missoni features supermodel Gisele Bündchen and Tamino Amir Moharam Fouad. Tamino Amir Moharam Fouad is the latest sensation in the European alternative rock scene.  Gisele and Tamino are set against a backdrop of celestial bodies and galactic destinations.  This summer 2019 campaign is resplendent in the nocturnal lights of space, as the stars and planets transform into an ethereal background. Skies are as blue as a baroque theatre, desert landscapes are animated by sand dunes and craters, painted by the reflections of stars which frame Gisele and Tamino.

Gisele and Tamino are two heavenly beings that float from one celestial plane to the next. Both models pose, preen, and saunter as they are transfixed in different galaxies, reflecting and embodying the nomadic spirt of Missoni.

Dresses encrusted in ruffles and gossamer knitted mesh or iridescent ensembles in space-dyed lamé drape the body of a dancing Gisele. The meditative Tamino wears suits in loom-knit or woven fabrics with grosgrain-like textures as he contemplates the obscurity of space.

As celestial travelers who transcend space and time, Tamino and Gisele, as the modern-day Missoni man and Missoni woman, are the latest projections of where Missoni’s Creative Director Angela Missoni wants the brand to be placed. And this placement sits more comfortably with the modern consumer with garments that are easily mixed and matched and has more retail appeal without losing the brand’s signature aesthetic.

This very interesting and unique campaign was photographed in full and half plans by Harley Weir. Other than this recent campaign, Gisele Bündchen most recent affiliation with Missoni was the brand’s spring 2017 eyewear campaign.—Staff
