Fashion Reverie Prediction: Meghan Markle’s Fashion Choices, Good, Bad or Indifferent?

                                    Images courtesy of

Last month, Fashion Reverie reported on the potential power of actress Meghan Markle’s status as a rising fashion icon. Since her engagement to Prince Harry, fashion pundits have been scrutinizing everything she wears from her coats down to her earrings. Recently, Markle was spotted wearing a bespoke Philip Treacy felt hat for Christmas Day church service in Sandringham. For her first royal Christmas with Prince Harry, Markle went for a more price-friendly look by sporting a Sentaler wide-collar camel coat and a burgundy “Tay” velvet dress from Club Monaco, accessibly priced at 234 British pounds. She didn’t forget to add a little bit of luxury though by adding a Chloé bag.

                         Images courtesy of

For her engagement photos, Markle embraced British fashion designers. The crown jewel of all her outfits would have to be her Ralph & Russo couture gown, estimated at a price of 56,000 British pounds. For the photo shoots Meghan also donned a diaphanous, embellished cashmere sweater by Victoria Beckham.

One thing that is clear from Markle’s recent fashion choices is that she understands her role as a future member of the royal family. Yet to be established is the effect her fashion choices have on British culture. Her greatest testament as a style star will be to introduce the world to brands that weren’t necessarily household names. Markle is known to be a big fan of British designer Misha Nonoo, who has made a big name for herself in the States.Nonoo was part of the CFDA Incubator Program, which helped her build her business in the US, gaining the attention of actresses of Markle’s ilk. It is also expected that Markle could don other American designers with notable British roots, such as Bibhu Mohapatra, who has amassed an impressive list of celebrities and is a staple on the New York Fashion Week calendar scene.

Bibhu Mohapatra spring 2018 images courtesy of

Meghan Markle has an ideal style opportunity, unlike Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, in that she won’t be required to be quite as formal as Kate Middleton. Markle will have room to be a little more adventurous with her fashion choices. Still, as the first woman of color to marry into the royal family, everything she does will be under a microscope and should be approached with caution.

                                Images courtesy of

Meghan could possibly craft a more relatable image by wearing the globally popular British label Burberry. The acclaimed British luxury label is expected to name a new creative director as former creative director Christopher Bailey has exited his post. Rumor has it that former Céline creative director Phoebe Philo could be taking the top design post at Burberry, which means Philo could craft an entirely new image for the brand, as well as a new image for Markle. Meghan is already a fan of Burberry, having worn a Burberry dress to the Isabella Blow Foundation’s Fashion Blows Gala in 2014.

That said; the future duchess has an on-going love affair with accessories, namely shoes. Meghan Markle has provided us a glimpse into her shoe closet via Instagram, and her closet is worthy of the gods. Her collection has included Aquazurra, Jean-Michel Cazabat, Gianvito Rossi, Isa Tapia, Sam Edelman, Miu Miu, and Brian Atwood.

Images of Roksanda spring 2018, J. W. Anderson spring 2018, Mulberry spring 2018, and Simone Rocha spring 2018 courtesy of

Markle’s enormous shoe collection is expected to follow her to the UK, but the question is, but what other independent and emerging designers will she promote with her style choices. Based on her understated, yet luxurious approach to style, potential designers (who are also on the London Fashion Week calendar) that could become Markle favorites include Mulberry, J.W. Anderson, Simone Rocha, Teatum Jones, Roksanda and Christopher Kane. While none of the aforementioned designers have officially stepped up to the plate, anything is still possible. It’s Meghan’s world now, and we’re about to be living in it.      —Kristopher Fraser

Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of January 1, 2018

2018 is not even a week old an already it is all about the color black. And it all came to fruition at the 2018 Golden Globes. And though fashionistas would have loved to see splashes on color on the 2018 Golden Globe red carpet, the ubiquity of black was all for a good cause.

Add to that ‘Time Out’ brooches and pins and 2018 promises to be year of advocacy, protest, and hopefully great change. And those who missed a lot of color on the red carpet, this is just the beginning of award season and there are plenty of other changes to see great color on red carpets.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

What would the Golden Globes be without Halle Berry? A former Golden Globe winner, Halle Berry went against tradition and wore a short dress to the 2018 Golden Globes. Still, she sparkled and shined in a black lace, bell sleeved Zuhair Murad cocktail dress with Jimmy Choo sandals.Halle set off her red carpet look with a tourmeline Maxior ring, and black diamond/emerald ring by AS29. That said; we loved the chance to see Halle’s toned and sexy legs!!

Image courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

Olympic gold medal figure skater Tara Lipinksi may be diminutive, but she still knows how to shine on a red carpet. Tara looks great in a Dress the Population black halter gown with Neil J. Rodgers shoes.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

“This Is Us’” Susan Kelechi Watson looked current and chic in a black sequin jumpsuit by Monsoori. Susan set off her ensemble with the ‘Mia” shoe from Neil J. Rodgers.

“The Real’s” Jeannie Mai wore an Uel Camilo gown and Harry Kotlar diamond ear clusters.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

“Orange Is the New Black’s” Laverne Cox always shines on the red carpet. Laverne Cox demonstrates just how stunning she is in a Stella Nolasco black gown with dipping décolletage. Laverne is beautifully accessorized in Gilan diamond earrings and a DVANI sapphire ring.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

Though Ireland Baldwin has fabulous and glamorous parents, Kim Basinger and Alex Baldwin, that doesn’t mean that Ireland is not glamorous in her own right. The model/actress looked edgy but fashionable in a Sally LaPointe black cocktail dress. Ireland accessorizes with Borgioni diamond ear cuffs and AS29 diamond two-finger ring.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

“Westworld’s” Angela Sarafyan looks very sophisticated in an Ester Abner dress with Jimmy Choo clutch, beautifully accessorized in a Maxior amethyst necklace, bracelet, and ring at the Instyle 2018 Golden Globes After-Party.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

Who says a suit ensemble doesn’t work at the Golden Globes? “Columbus’” Haley Lu Richardson proves that it does by donning a DVF metallic-embossed suit. Not exactly black, but it works just same, especially with accessories of Djula diamond earrings and ring.

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

“Little Bitches” Keirsey Clemmons looks chic and sophisticated in a simple Giamba black dress with dipping décolletage, accessorized with Narcisa Pheres diamond earrings and Djula diamond ring. Love the short coif, showing off that beautiful face!!

Talk about thinking out of the box, or in this case, in the box!!—Staff

Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of December 11, 2017

There were slim pickings this week with very few fashionable celebrities on the scene. This close to the holidays most stylish celebrities have escaped to some tropical locate or are relaxing and luxuriating in St. Tropez, Monte Carlo or St. Moritz.

That said; one very prominent celebrity really rocked it this week. And this particular celebrity has ended up on many 2017 best-dressed list. With her new movie “The Greatest Showman” opening in a few days, Zendaya has been slaying on the red carpet on the film premiere’s red carpet.

Recently spotted leaving “The Today Show,” Zendaya was flashy and fashion-forward in a Giuseppe Morabito gold coatdress with Bienen-Davis bag and metallic shows. Zendaya set off this ensemble with Vita Fede two-tone matte black hoop earrings. Again, Zendaya demonstrated that her style choices in front of Capital Studios in London—with help of stylist Law Roach—set her way apart from other celebrities of her ilk. Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of December 4, 2017

As we get deeper into the holiday season, the Celebrity Fashion Sightings get slimmer. That does not mean that Fashion Reverie will not have some interesting celeb sightings for our viewers. Our staff is always on the lookout for those rare sightings to satisfy the insatiable thirst of readers. Remember, Fashion Reverie always delivers.

Double the pleasure, double the fun, and it’s certainly a whole lot of two times the fun going on at the recent Teen Vogue Summit in Los Angeles. R&B duo Chloe and Halle Bailey epitomizes the festive and fun mood of the event in colorful ensembles from Missoni Resort 2018 collection. Now, the question is who is the other babe in the image?

Images courtesy of and D’Orazio and Associates

Camila Cabello seems to be on a lot of red carpets these days. Fashion Reverie loves that because this Cuban songbird always slays!!At the L’Oreal Paris Women of Worth Celebration 2017 event, Camila looks chic and sophisticated in an Alexis Mabille Resort 2018 sheer blouse and pink blush skirt, beautifully set on with Narcisa Pheres diamond drop earrings. Now, some might say that this sophisticated look is too mature for the Latin firecracker, but Fashion Reverie thinks this style evolution is on point!!

Image courtesy of C&M Media/GC Images

Fashion Reverie loves to feature supermodels that have a great sense of style. Supermodel Karolina Kurkova was spotted in Miami at the 2017 Art Basel week in silk suit in poppy print from the Alejandra Alonso Rojas spring 2018 collection.

                   Images courtesy of’Orazio and Associates

“Scandal’s” Kerry Washington is always on the list of celebs with great style. Then again, let’s re-examine that. Though this Giambattista Valli is great look, this look doesn’t great on Kerry Washington on the red carpet at the NASA 2018 Breakthrough Prize event. However, the Le Vian white diamond earrings are stunning!!

Images courtesy of and D”Orazio and Associates

“Jane the Virgin’s” Gina Rodriguez displays her nascent beauty wonderfully in a green Georges Chakra Couture spring 2017 gown with Hearts on Fire diamond rings on the red carpet at the screening of 20th Century Fox’s “Ferdinand” in Los Angeles.

Allison Janney proves that women of a certain age can still slay on the red carpet. Janney is definitely the lady in red in this red caftan-like gown with Hearts on Fire diamond cuff, and L’Dezen by Payal Shah diamond earrings to the Hollywood premiere “I, Tonya.”—Staff

Meghan Markle: The UK’s Next Potential Style Icon

                        Images courtesy of, and

It’s unlikely that you haven’t heard, but actress Meghan Markle has become engaged to Prince Harry of Wales. While Meghan Markle has been making headlines by landing Britain’s most coveted bachelor, and being the first woman of color to marry into the royal family, the Fashion Reverie staff has their eyes on something else: her style choices. (Not a hard guess; we are a fashion publication.)Although Markle has never been a major red-carpet style star, now that she’s being thrust into the spotlight, her fashion choices may become global headline news. Within a week’s time, she could easily see a headline on for her style choices. Recently, a ZARA plaid topcoat Markle wore sold out in a day.

The LINE coat, Parosh dress, and the Maison Birk earrings she wore at her engagement announcement are selling out faster than the namesake brands can supply. WWD reported that LINE’s website saw so much traffic, it crashed. The $750–priced LINE coat has become so popular, the brand renamed the coat “The Meghan.”

Recently, the actress was spotted carrying a burgundy tote by Edinburg-based label Strathberry. After photos of her with the bag went public, it sold out in a record 11 minutes. It was her first royal appearance with Prince Harry in Nottingham, and one that would lay the groundwork for her proven ability as a celebrity fashion influencer. LINE was an established Canadian brand; however, they were relatively unknown until the announcement of Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement.

Traditionally, fashion pundits would focus on the wife of the royal next in line for the British throne, which would be Camilla Parker Bowles, wife of Prince Charles. That said; Camilla Parker Bowles’ (the Duchess of Cornwall) fashion style pales in comparison to the late Princess Diana, not readily recognized by the international press for her fashion choices. (The memory of the late Princess Diana’s inimitable style is still too fresh in the mind of the Brits, for Camilla to get much style traction.)Instead, the fashion pundits have turned their attention to Duchess Kate, whose choices from affordable fast-fashion brands like ZARA to British brands like Erdem have garnered her praise from the international fashion press. The Duchess’ crowning moment on the way to becoming a fashion icon came when she walked down the aisle with Prince William in an Alexander McQueen gown.

Images of sketches of Reem Acra, Ines Di Santo, and Gracy Accad, respectively courtesy of The Bridal Council

British journalists and residents alike are wagging tongues about who will dress the woman set to be married to the man fifth in line for the British throne. The Bridal Council has speculated potential designer options could include everyone from established designers like Reem Acra to newcomers like Gracy Accad. Those are just a few of the American designers in the mix, but it’s also possible Markle could choose a European designer. The top two contenders named on sites are French designer Roland Mouret and British designer Erdem. Markle is known to be a big fan of Mouret, having worn two of his designs in the past.

Jessica Mulroney and Meghan Markle image courtesy of

There’s no word as of yet on whether or not Markle’s stylist, Jessica Mulroney, will have any hand in her wedding day choices, but so far she’s been Markle’s secret weapon. The celebrity stylist has been working with Markle since she moved to Canada to begin filming “Suits.” It was Mulroney who handpicked Markle’s engagement outfit, as well as the Mackage coat and Joseph skirt that the actress wore for her first royal outing with Prince Harry. Mulroney is also no stranger to wedding style; she’s a consultant at Kleinfeld’s, the New York–based bridal store.Though Meghan Markle may not get as much fashion buzz as Kate Middleton, Meghan will turns head in Great Britain and abroad. Fashion Reverie cannot wait to report on Markle’s great style choices.

Everyone looks forward to what Pink might wear to any awards show. She always pushes the fashion envelope with her style choices. At the 2017 American Music Awards Pink chose to mix the hard with the soft with a carnation pink, frothy, butterfly embellished Monique Lhuillier ballgown, accessorized with Narcisa Pheres sapphire tassel earrings, a Spallanzani tanzanite and diamond ring, and Le Vian diamond rings. Now that was the soft element; the hard element was the stylized pink upswept hairstyle with shaved sides. Celebrity Fashion Sightings: Week of November 6, 2017

This week’s Celebrity Fashion Sightings is mostly about music icons; similar to our Celebrity Fashion Sightings last week. From Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, and Mary J. Blige to Camila Cabello and Demi Lovato, music celebrities turned it out this week on red carpets, launches, and film premieres. Then again; that is expected!!

Images courtesy of D’Orazio and Associates

Mary J. Blige continues to stun on the red carpet. Mary J glided down the red carpet at the 9th Annual Governors Awards in a color-blocked spring 2018 Cushnie et Ochs gown. She is beautifully accessorized in a Anabela Chan canary diamond earrings and ring.

Angelina Jolie looked very sophisticated and business-like in a fall 2017 Elisabetta Franchi cream-draped dress with shooting stars to the 9th Annual Governors Awards. Now, who work it best, the model or Angelina?

Image courtesy of Instagram/D’Orazio and Associates

Actress/Comedienne Tiffany Haddish star is definitely rising. She killed on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend, and she displayed her exuberant spirit in a red STYLAND suit ensemble in a recent Instagram post promoting her hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.” Tiffany Haddish is the first African American comedienne to host SNL.
